History of Football
The long history of the well known sport, football, is a very important part of the patriotic culture of the United States of America. But this amazing sport did not start in the U.S. The Gridiron game originated in England. Football did not start as the favorite American sport that everyone knows, it started as rugby. But the sport wasn't always rugby. Rugby started as soccer... etc.. etc....
In Football, players have positions, such as the quarter back, who throws the ball, or the wide reciever, who catches the ball from a very long distance, to help his team succeed in their plays that they will take a long time to figure out, so can run it. These amazing players play their role on what they are supposed to do. This is called team work. For example the quarter back needs to practice day in to out on his lively throwing abilites. And the wide reciever has to work on his catching the ball so he doesn't mess up the game. So everyone on long hundred yard field, has a part to play. Even the water boy. The coac has the hardest job of telling everyone what to do, and calling the plays.
Football was created in the early year of 1823. One brisk winter day a young school boy named William Web Ellis, was playing soccer with a few of his friends, when the school bell rang through the icey poles that it was being held by. So William had to go back with all of his friends to the torturous class he was about to unwillingly take. But instead of walking away from the old beat up ball, Willaim was determind to make the last goal, to win the game. So he picked up the ball and charged for the rusty post. The other children started piling on Ellis, but they were no match for the strong-willed child. Every Monday since then, ...

... history was -20 degrees F. The very hottest game was 102 degrees F. One Super Bowl was cancled because the whole stadium was flooded all the way up to the bleachers.
Football has come a long way from the years of 1823 to 2014. It has been tough for some of the "founding fathers", but they made it through. There have been records, rules, and most of all, history. This rigourous game is truley, without a doubt, a true American Sport.
