For this essay, I’ve chosen to write about Aconitum (Aconite). Other common names (and/or species) for this plant include (but are not limited to); Monkshood, old wife's hood, helmet flower, soldier's cap, bachnag, bear's foot, and the apt name; brute killer.
This plant has a long history of use in both the muggle and wizarding worlds. It is known to grow in the North portion of Eastern Hemisphere, particularly in mountainous regions in lower slopes. Specifically, the Swiss Alps, Salzburg, North Tyrol and Vorarlberg are noted for the commonality of the plant growing there. Although it is currently most commonly used in Asia, it does not normally grow there. Aconite prefers slightly moist soil like loam, and thrives in shade. The ideal environment for it would be a damp, wooded clearing. With this kind of environment, it would simply require weeding to flourish.
Aconite is a highly poisonous plant. There are many varieties/relatives of this plant, and those vary in medicinal properties and toxicity. All parts of the plant contain the poison, although the root is the thing most commo...
The narcissus in the woman’s garden release petals in one clump (Otsuka 15). Furthermore, the narcissus is a sign of bad luck to the family and their survival. Otsuka (103) uses another flower to represent both hope and sorrow. However, for our theme of the tragedy, a man in the camp dies and an unfamiliar and rare flower was spotted on the other side of the fence”. The man was purportedly shot while reaching for the flower, symbolizing the struggle for freedom and a better life (Otsuka 101) In the end, the death of the man represents persona tragedy from an innocent action, an action with a deadly

The main character in John Steinback’s short story: The Chrysanthemums, is a married woman named Elisa Allen. She is a hardworking diligent young woman. In the opening chapters of The Chrysanthemums, Elisa is seen heartily in a great degree tendering to her gentle flowers. Powerful she is – gentle and conservative with her strength. She knows her weakness. Like the gentle calm flow of water embedding itself into layers of strata – which forms the highest peaks and grandest canyons.
specimens with the corresponding scientific description, photographs, specific maps and there are drawings that document the research. This collected images of plants continue the artist’s fascination with documentation, community engagement and art as a way to address larger social issues. Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray is, at first glance, a novel about a young, handsome man’s demise as he travels into a world of self- indulgence, immorality, and evil. Though the predominant motif of beauty versus ugliness is the main take-away point, Wilde’s use of symbols, particularly flowers cannot go unnoticed. From characterization to depicting religious allusions, flowers are frequently used in The Picture of Dorian Gray. Clearly, the novel’s use of roses, orchids, lilacs, and the like has an underlying meaning, which will be explored and analyzed in this essay.

There have been several claims for the use of acai- the whole tree from the berry to the root. The acai berry is used to treat diarrhea, the root for jaundice, the rind is used for skin ulcers and the seeds used to treat fevers. Other claims are for treatment of diabetes, liver disorders, hair loss, hemorrhage, kidney disease, and menstrual and muscle pain (Ulbricht et al. 2012). These are some of the unconventional uses that have been used in Brazil (Ulbricht et al. 2012). There are several claims that acai can treat several conditions in the United States. One claim is that it is used with the treatment of MS. There are no studies to evaluate the safety or effectiveness of acai in the treatment of MS (Bowling, A. ...
