The Beginning of ISIS
ISIS, also known as Islamic State of Iraq and Syria; is a powerful new force that fascinated the world in 2014 by creating a powerful group in the Middle East. ISIS also previously known as Al Quada Iraq is made from strict Muslims who believe that there is no other way but to follow god according to the Koran. Being one of the most powerful and richest terrorist groups in history, ISIS combined military and religion fanaticism to build what they call the Islamic State. ISIS ended up capturing a major city in Syria known as Raqqa which later was made to be the capital for ISIS. However, it all started with Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 and many other conflicts.

This was the beginning of a different type of jihadi groups due to the chaos the country was left in. Furthermore, since Iraq was very vulnerable, many outsiders who were fighters began moving into Iraq including Zaraqawi and his organization. As Zaraqawi’s people kept fighting in Iraq, he finally grasped the attention of al-Qaeda. Zaraqawi then in 2004 pledged his loyalty to al-Qaeda which he used them towards military funds. They were renamed as AQI (al-Qaeda in Iraq) and grew to become the leading organization of Sunni’s. AQI started to fight the Americans, and anyone who was against their belief. Finally, after the Soviets fight withdraw, a man named, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi who travels to Afghanistan. Later on, Zarqawi later on meets another man named, Sheikh Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi who eventually persuades Zaraqawi to believe in Islam. Subsequently, this was significant because it led to the organization known as JTWJ (Jamaat-al-Tawhid wal-Jihad). Finally, in 2003, JTWJ was renamed as AQI (al-Qaeda in Iraq) and grew to become the leading organization of Sunni’s. Furthermore, this made AQI very cocky which ends up most of their members in prison. After some time, they finally escape and reorganize to become an even more powerful organization. In 2013 AQI was renamed as Isis as they left Al Qaeda. ISIS then ends up capturing a major city in Syria known as Raqqa which later was made to be the capital for ISIS. This was significant because it allowed them to use this as an opportunity to recruit people which made them grow and increase in members hastily. ISIS has shown that they are one of the biggest terror threats in the world (CNN). People even are starting comparing ISIS to the Nazis from World War II(Luckert). Nazis and ISIS are very similar, but they are also very different. The similarities are shocking to see that history could possibly repeat itself and people still haven’t learned from the Nazis’ time. The Nazis exterminated more than six million innocent civilians. If no one stops ISIS, who knows what they will be able to accomplish.

Throughout Junot Díaz's novel, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, the text poses concerns with narrative viewpoints, familial history of the Dominican Republic, and most importantly, specifies characters. Díaz introduces characters who are present throughout the entire novel, and others who appear only briefly. Isis, in particular, holds a special place in the novel. Al-Qaeda is an Islamist group that was founded by Osama bin Laden in the 1980s. Al-Qaeda is the same group that carried out the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Al-Qaeda means "the base". In 2010, the Al-Qaeda magazine had a step by step guide to making a pressure cooker bomb. The brothers were planning to do some of the same acts in New York City.

This group was created in 1978 and continues to expand its power today. It began as a branch of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood. This terrorist group has several goals ranging from creating a Islamic state to continuing the armed struggle against Israeli occupation of Palestine territories. Their acts of terrorism to date have included suicide bomb attacks against Israeli civilians to attacks on suspected Palestinian collaborators.

The world you once knew is falling to ashes and food is become such a scarcity that people are fighting over a few pieces of bread. The political class is too busy fighting among themselves to care for anyone else. Children are roaming the streets and begging for work to feed their dying, hungry stomachs. This is not a scene from a horror movie, but rather the reality of the beginning of post classical era. In these times of hardship the people turned to a higher power, which resulted in a religious boom. The main religion during the post classical era that had the greatest impact on people was Islam due to Muhammad, trade routes, the Black Plague, conquests and Islamic culture.

Once US left Iraq, Maliki become a Shia dominated ruling authority. He killed his Sunni Vice President, Tarqi-al Hashimi, which showed that Maliki was using his power for his own interest. A Sunni group, Islamic State in Iraq and Syria joined by former Ba-athists and other Sunni insurgents captured Fallujah, Ramadi and Mosul, hence ISIS was moving in Iraq (Krik et al. 2014). Unfortunately, Maliki was no match for ISIS since Syrian War encouraged violence and ISIS has taken part of Iraq.
