The significance of the books title is to represent a certain character named Jay Gatsby. The title shows a name “Gatsby” which makes people realize who might be the main character or the one mostly involved throughout this book. The title made me make an inference about some of Gatsby’s characteristics. Some of the inferences that I made were how he could have been treated. Part of the title shows the words “The Great” this made me inference on how he could have been seen as a person. The part of the title makes people know that maybe he could have been a righteous man to people. The title did help me figure out who might be connected to the problem and solution to the story. The title did show me how Gatsby could be treated from other people.
The Great Gatsby is a book filled with dynamic characters, written by a dynamic person. Throughout the book, the themes and situations are on many symbolic levels. The Great Gatsby is such a novel, that the hero is portrayed to the reader by a man who, with seemingly no effort, will not judge a man easily. He perceives him, takes him in, and analyzes him. This man’s name is not, in fact, Gatsby, but Nick Carraway, the narrator of the story. The man who is being perceived, of course, is Jay Gatsby, our hero.
As a reader, it’s not typical to question the reliability of the narrator. But how would the story change if the narrator recounted events with complete neutrality?
