10th ELA PERIOD 3 Ms Head How to bridge conflict Successfully ___ By Johnathan Kanzler There are many ways that conflict can erupt, however there is only 1 way that can bring a satisfactory resolution. Between the many ways we can see conflict, there are two common means of resolving these issues. These conflicts include killing a child, going missing, dumping your daughter's stature into a lake, missing out on your culture, and the legality of burning the American flag. What all these conflicts have in common is that they all reach a solution, however these solutions vary heavily from each other. These solutions can be categorized into two groups within all the conflicts given. However, between these 2 groups, one of them is an obvious and …show more content…
However he is not well mannered as he just barges into the home of a Russian man named Sergei(who does not like unexpected company) because he was infatuated with his goldfish(not knowing it is a magical goldfish). However Sergei who has past experiences with the KGB(The Committee for State Security was the main security agency for the Soviet Union) he panics thinking the boy is going to steal his magical goldfish away from him so he ends up tragically striking Yoni with a burner from the stove. But these claims are wrong when they fail to bring sufficient evidence to debunk my claim. Throughout other stories like “Without Title” we see a man who just accepts his fate instead of trying to undo his situation. He never fights nor sacrifices anything to reclaim his lost heritage; in fact, he sacrifices more when he starts a relationship with his wife by getting rid of his arrows. He sacrificed to make his situation worse, not better, and his solution is to sulk and accept his fate. In contrast, had he just made efforts to fix his misery in any shape or form, he simply crumbled and allowed his lost heritage to be his future. Why would anyone want to live an unhappy life when to just fix it you just have to make an effort or sacrifice to bridge the conflict? Effort and being informed can make your decision a lot easier in your life. Had the main protagonist just made an effort to reclaim his heritage, his life would have been a lot happier and much more fulfilling. The best way to bridge a conflict and successfully solve the conflict is to come to a solution based on fact instead of emotion, even if that solution involves
Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka and “What, of This Goldfish, Would You Wish” by Etgar Keret, the main conflicts are centered around the magical realism present in each story. In ”The Metamorphosis” a traveling salesman named Gregor is transformed into some kind of vermin and thus starts the main conflict of Gregor’s constant ostracization by his family after he’s unable to assist him anymore and slowly becomes consumed by loneliness. In “What, of This Goldfish, Would You Wish” a man named Sergei is visited
physical and emotional conflicts within and between people, and that it can have a brutal impact. The relationship between the themes of separation and isolation is cause and effect, because isolation is the effect of separation, yet isolation can cause separation as well. Both isolation and separation are able to provoke feelings of low self-esteem in a person, and this idea is expressed thoroughly by the novel, The Great Gatsby, and the poem, “(love song, with two goldfish)”. The authors produced

In “What, of This Goldfish, Do You Wish” by Etgar Keret the story begins with a man making a documentary named Yonatan knocks on Sergei’s door. When Sergei answers the door the man asks him “That if he had a magic goldfish that would grant
similar, well the three stories are: “What of This Goldfish, Would You Wish,” “The Lottery,” and “A Visit To Grandmother” they are similar because some characters have the same or almost the same problems. When some people do have problems, they can get out of control and they don’t know what to do or they just give up on their themselves. Having problems could be bad because they cause to make a lot of chaos and fights. On the Grandma story and the Goldfish stories are similar because they both have people
depends on the situation, and who it is. In Ender's Game, What, of this Goldfish, Would you Wish, and in the Wife’s Story they all explore the idea that the fear of the unknown often leads people to respond negatively. And that it can be very hard to control and is almost part of human nature. In his book, “Ender’s Game” Orson Scott Card explores how even the smartest people can respond negatively when confronted with conflict. For example “ Look, you can say you won. I’ll say you taught me a lesson
different from ourselves.” Discrimination is a topic often found in the literature and is discussed in the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, a documentary trailer My So-Called Enemy directed by Lisa Gossels and a short-story “What of this Goldfish, Would You Wish?” by Etgar Keret. Those who believe that accepting others from different racial backgrounds will make the world a better place; meanwhile, there are others who refuse to accept others or being disagreed with the quotes of Barbara
“What of This Goldfish Would You Wish?” written by Etger Keret exemplifies this previously stated fact in that it is a tale of a lonely man named Sergi Goralick and Yonatan. These two gentlemen cross paths on the base of one common factor: A magic goldfish. Sergi proves to be a dynamic character in the plot of this story. A basic synopsis of this narrative is that primarily a boy, Yonatan, decides to make a film of the responses of people to the question, “If you found a talking goldfish that granted
The mood changes throughout the poem. At the start the mood is sombre, sad and mysterious but when it reache... ... middle of paper ... ...death. "Pride, like a goldfish, flashed a sudden fin": we can imagine the goldfish swimming in their bowl, perhaps set in the sunshine on a windowsill. The sun catches a goldfish at a certain angle, and the gold of its scales suddenly shines brightly. The speaker, caught in the sunshine of all this attention and sympathy, suddenly feels pride shining
details about his birth, his parents and all that David Copperfield kind of crap" (referring to Charles Dickens' novel by the same name).Holden’s favourite story “The Secret Goldfish” is written by his older brother D.B, whom he describes as a “terrific” short story writer. “The Secret Goldfish” is about a child who buys a goldfish and doesn’t allow other people to look at the fish, because het bought it with his own money. This foreshadows Holden’s passions for the innocence and authenticity of childhood
and sexual preference into groups that eventually lead to conflicts within communities. Thus, three reasons why people should accept others who are different from themselves is because it would allow us to be more open-minded about racial prejudice, evolve and grow as a community, and prevent social conflicts. Notably, being able to accept others for who they are will
them, and extend their extreme kindness to everyone within the household. This resembles the usage of the defense mechanism of reaction formation. According to the theories of ego psychology, reaction formations occur when individuals’ anxiety or conflict-driven intended behaviors are masked by exaggeration of opposite behaviors. Children relate to how the female protagonists suppress their conflicted emotions because the children themselves may using similar defense mechanisms to regulate their affect

Some of these pets appear to be quite unusual, but they seem happy and therefore to each his own. They end up with birds, goldfish, a dog, rabbits, and a black cat. The brief outline the narrator provides us of his wife suggests that she is kind, giving, loyal, and even heroic at the end. The narrator says she has "in a high degree, that humanity of feeling which had once been
Hope in Despair: The Greatness of Miyazaki Hayao “Animation time!” When I was in elementary school, my dad would often begin the perfect Sunday experience this way, and I would dash out of my room, hop onto the sofa, and curl myself around my father’s round belly. On one of these days in particular, we watched Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro (1988). The few things I still remember about the movie are the huge, puffy, and eccentrically adorable forest spirit Totoro – with his eyes staring nowhere –
Director Miyazaki illustrated in “Spirited Away” and “Ponyo” how love, identity, perseverance, and adversity can conquer anything. At the beginning of the movies, we see how food and water set Chihiro, Sosuke, and Ponyo’s adventures, and the conflict, they endure and how they were perceived in the spirit and human worlds. The spirit world was less tolerant of anything different, whereas the human world was more welcoming; however, they both illustrated the same message about how people should be

The Short story “What, of This Goldfish, Would You Wish?” by Etgar Keret examines the idea that communication is key to understanding and resolving conflict. As Yonatan attempts to interview Sergei, a lack of communication causes Sergei to jump to the wrong conclusion. The story reads, “Sergei understands the boy didn’t come
