In the story “The Fun They Had” by Isaac Asimov. It tells a story about a girl named Margie. The story takes place in a society where technology has evolved and changed. However, the girl struggles with the change and doesn’t like the idea of everything revolving around technology. Margie didn’t always feel like this though, she changed her mind when she and Tommy opened a book, about how school was in the past. One detail that shows that Margie may not like the change about technology is when her robot teacher gave her a lot of work “test after test in geography and she had been doing worse and worse” Margie struggles with school because of how technology has changed the way of education. Since the robot knows that Margie is struggling, the robot might think that giving her a lot of work may be useful. Margie, on the other hand, struggles with her robot teacher because it’s giving her a lot of work that is making her do worse and worse in school. Robot teachers may seem like a good idea for the near future but robots have no feelings. They can’t tell when someone is struggling. Therefore, Margie’s teacher has no …show more content…

It also leads to Margie having someone take her teacher apart. “Margie had hoped he wouldn’t know how to fix it again, but he knew how all right and after an hour or so, there it was again, large and black and ugly with a big screen on which all the questions were shown and the questions were asked...” If Margie decided to take her mechanical teacher apart at some point, hoping that no one would be able to fix it and hoping that she would never be able to get it back again. This clearly shows that Margie is struggling and does not like the change that technology has had on education. She also learned how to punch in a code for her teacher when she was six years old, Margie is also probably tired of her robot teacher and equally important she wants things to be the same as they were when school was
