Philosophy is such a broad topic that makes it hard to fully understand and many different perspectives arise. Different field of profession has their own unique philosophy that provides big picture of what the field is about. Under each philosophy there are different paradigms that evolve and develop within philosophy. In the beginning it is hard and difficulty to fully understand and grab the concept of philosophy but with the gaining of more knowledge and experience, it becomes much clearer. Under philosophy of nursing, there are four paradigms. The four models of nursing include environment, nursing, health, and client/individual. These four help structure the philosophy of nursing. There are three elements under environment, which are physical, psycho-social, and economic. Health issues do and can arise from environmental factors. Those living in a third world country have limited access to hospitals and care. Despite the age, young or old, people lose their lives because they didn’t have the resources to help them. So of course it makes sense that nurses encounter patients that are out of their league and just hard to care. Despite the differences, it’s important that the nurses treat every individual the same. Nurses need to understand how to treat every individual, who their patient’s support system is, and how he/she affects surrounding people. When seeing a patient, don’t judge a book by its cover. It’s necessary to put all biases aside and diagnose the patient correctly. And in the meantime, it’s quite nice to get to know the patient. See who their support system is. See who they live with.
