Dependency on Technology
People have become overly dependent on technology. After the discovery of North America, founded by Christopher Columbus, people have become fixated on “The New World.” It allowed people to advance towards better opportunities and to start new beginnings. With the rising growth of technology, it has become an efficient, purposeful manipulation of the now material world. It is power that is applied through a machine or tool to perform a certain skill or technique. The United States, compared to other countries in the world, have the greatest standard of living with its accessible technologies. Since the 21st century, the use of technology has increased―technology is used for everything because it has become a requirement to function in today’s society.
Technology has become an inseparable part of our lives. With technology, it makes a person’s life easier and without it, they have no idea what to do. It is like a lost limb when an instrument is lost or broken because it has become a large part of our lives. One question that arises is, can we survive without technology? The answer, yes we can, but it would be difficult. In August of 2003, there was a blackout in North America that affected eight states in the northeast and part of Canada. They were without power for four to five days. No lights, computers, air conditioning, TV, transportation, and working appliances. This caused cause inconvenience to those that were affected. They were not able to “connect” to the world because their entertainment was gone. Though it did not cause serious harm, people could not do anything. ... satisfies our wants and our needs. It has developed into more than just an instrument to make life easier. It is destroying life; our dependency on it is too much of a great deal.
Technology is going to be the future.
