In the story, “The Dog That Bit People”, Mother always blamed others for the things that Muggs did. On page 4, paragraph 7, muggs bit Lieutenant-Governor Malloy. Mother blamed the governor by claiming that the sound of people screaming excited Muggs, and that made him bite people. Also on page 3, paragraph 6, the narrator stated “it was a foolhardy thing to do and the last time I saw my mother, about six months ago”. It can be inferred that Mother either left or that she kicked the narrator out of the house because she placed the blame on the narrator for holding Muggs in the air.
Harrison Scott Key, who was published in Best Travel Writing 2014, wrote about his travels on one of America’s infamous modes of transportation, the Greyhound Bus. In “Fifty Shades of Greyhound”, Key begins his memoir by recalling the first time he had ever ridden on a greyhound. He wanted to go see West Yellowstone, Montana and despite his friends questioning his sanity and his mother believing that he will die, he left. The narrator returned several days later, promising his mother he would never do anything like that again, eighteen years later he broke that promise. He begins his essay in a Greyhound station in Savannah.
Malcolm Gladwell’s Usage of the Straw Man Method of Persuasion in What the Dog Saw
At the beginning of the book, Christopher had thought that his dad would never hurt anything or anyone. Christopher had thought that his dad was a great person, and that he would never do anything wrong. This turned out to be not true. His father denied killing the dog multiple times, but he did admit to doing the act.“I killed Wellington, Christopher.”(p.120) Wellington is their neighbor’s dog. From this quote...
An increasing number of pit bull attacks have occurred over past decade. People who are attacked by pit bulls always suffer serious injuries because of the pit bulls’ sharp teeth and strong muscles. In October 19, 2009, Dr Hugh Wirth who is the RSPCA’s Victorian president renewed calls for American pit bull terriers to be bred out of Australia. The current laws require owners of pit bulls to register their pit bull. While some people are satisfied with the laws because they think that they are safe, others disagree. From my own perspective, the laws should be improved. The government should ban these fierce dogs and wipe them out instead of just registering them. In my opinion, there are three reasons why I am in favour of Dr Wirth’s proposal.
After a traumatic, horrible event takes place, there are often further issues as to who will take the blame for it or who will sacrifice themselves for the blame. After an automobile hits and kills Myrtle Wilson in The Great Gatsby, her husband George is ravenous in his attempts to find her murderer. Although it is clear that Daisy Buchanan drove the car that killed Myrtle, George shoots Gatsby due to the fact that Tom Buchanan leads him into thinking Gatsby is the driver. When Nick Carraway confronts Tom about this, Tom nonchalantly replies, “I told [George] the truth,” (Fitzgerald, 2000) indicating full well that he knew George would get rid of Gatsby. Instead of taking responsibility for the calamity and saving Gatsby (whom Daisy supposedly “loves”), Tom and Daisy act out of self-interest and “retreat back into their money… and let other people clean up the mess they had made…” (Fitzgerald, 2000.) On the o...
To recapitulate, in the book of The Great Gatsby, Nick, Daisy, and Tom are responsible for Gatsby’s unjust death. There is always at least one person who takes a responsibility of a crime, or event; this is usually the person who perpetrated such event, and he usually receives all of the blame and liability. In this novel Gatsby neither commits crime nor misconducts himself, but he assumes the responsibility and is later killed. Occasionally, people who are not guilty take a responsibility and receive a punishment. People must be responsible for their own actions, and try not to bestow their misconduct on others.
Splashed across the news feed on bing.com is a sensational story about a mother who bit the ear off a pit bull that was savagely attacking her 2-year old daughter. Story headline: “Mother acted on pure instinct when she punched the dog in the mouth and bit off its ear when it attacked her little girl…both mom and daughter are recovering—and the brutal beast has been put down” (nydailynews.com). This “vicious beast” is the criminal and the mother is no-doubt a hero. There’s no mother out there that would have done the same thing however, the way this article explains the story is sensationalized, the author clearly meant to demonize this dog. Stories like this have cast a shadow over the lowly pit bull breed and caused entire communities to take up pitchforks and push for legislation to ban the pit bull from existence. Breed-Specific Legislation (BSL) is a quick solution to the public frenzy created after a media-reported dog attack. However, BSL is rapidly proving to be ineffective. Counties are finding that BSL is too costly, it provides the public with a false sense of security, and it does not address animal abuse, even inadvertent abuse by loving owners.
Tom Buchannan is not fully responsible for Jay Gatsby’s death because others were also involved in the murder. Tom Buchannan played a part as well as his wife, George Wilson and Gatsby himself took part in it. The major role for this death was from Daisy. Daisy is the main killer of Myrtle, which led to Gatsby’s death. Daisy only cared about Gatsby’s money not Gatsby himself. Gatsby and Nick are from a working background but Daisy is not. Tom and Daisy didn’t care about if they hurt the felling of others they only cared for themselves. If daisy truly loved Gatsby she would have told Wilson that it was her not Gatsby who ran over Myrtle.
There are many people in the world that hate the way something about them looks. So their way of changing that is to undergo a surgery to fix their imperfections. There are also many ways that you can do the same exact thing with a pet. With any pet there is always things that people might want to change for a health reason or a cosmetic reason. With these procedures there are many pros, but there are also many cons that come with it.

How it has a society knowing the true facts of the people and what really goes on behind the clos doors of dog fighting. It can cause abuse, drugs, gangs, and even death. What people are involved and how articles can really open a person’s view on what really goes on out there and what people are doing to fight back dog fighting. What one person or thousand can do to save dogs from being put into the ring.
The novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon comprises of, a mentally unbalanced juvenile named Christopher who is determined to find the person who murdered his neighbor's dog. The investigation drives him down some startling paths and eventually brings him eye to eye with the dissolution of his mother and father's marriage. As he tries to cope with the craziness of his family, we are drawn into the workings of Christopher's mind. Furthermore, thus leads the way to the brilliance of Mark Haddon's decision of storytelling: The most emotional moments are brought to us by a kid who can't understand feelings. The impact is stunning, making for a novel that is profoundly entertaining, strong, and interesting in its
Dog Act was an enjoyable play set in a dystopian era that used a variety of elements, such as costumes, scenic design, etc. to keep the audience immersed in the peregrinations of the characters. My favorite technique was Dog Act's utilization of an array of speaking styles within its post-apocalyptic vernacular. The word choices and tones were noticeably exotic compared to our world, yet still different in the fashions each character spoke.
Bite levels can range from minor to deadly. Assessing the severity of the bite is the first step to figuring out what to do about it. The following is a version of the bite severity assessment scale originally developed by Dr. Ian Dunbar.
According to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty), the first humane organization, founded in 1866, in the Western Hemisphere that works to rescue animals from abuse and pass humane laws, the definition of animal cruelty is “acts of violence or neglect perpetrated against animals.” This definition is presented in a paper written by Learning To Give, an organization that teaches children to give back, take voluntary citizen action, and engage civilly and presents it through a philanthropist approach. Animal cruelty is an atrocious act that needs to be understood and not undermined. It is easy to push something to the back of our minds and put ourselves in denial when the issue is not right in front of our faces. Many of us know animal cruelty exists, but how many of us know how prevalent it is? Acknowledgement of the problem is the only way we can begin to solve it.
How many innocent dogs have been put down in the United States just because they’ve bitten someone once or twice ? An estimated 4.7 million dog bites occur to children, adults and other animals in the U.S. each year. Dogs are often put down for biting because people think the dogs are now dangerous. Dogs should not be put down for three main reasons : dogs are just using self defense, some dogs are just doing what their owners teach them, and most dogs can be helped with training.
