The Differences Between Logical, Ethical, and Dialectical Reasoning The ways human think are one of the most distinct differences amongst us all. No single person entire thought process is the same as someone else because every one comprehends differently. The way we think makes us who we are and the decisions we make are based off our thought process. We reason logically, ethically, or dialectically to come to a final decision. Logical, ethical, and dialectical reasoning all serve a different purpose to help us reason the world around us. Logical is a Greek word “logos” which means reason. Logical reasoning is defined as the logic “relating to the formal processes used in thinking and reasoning .” It is an ability to think rationally with supporting evidence. When we think logically we must have a clear reason for our actions. For example, if there were a fire ideally some one would run, grab an extinguisher, or throw water to put out the fire. Those decisions would be logical. We do not contemplate as much when we think logically because it is based off the existing knowledge we have about the situation or the possibilities we can clearly see. We have all heard before “think logical” which means there is no need to think of any other possible outcome then the one that has been presented before. In order to arrive at the best decision inductive, deductive, and abductive reasoning is used. Inductive reasoning presents a conclusion based off the information presented. Inductive reasoning can be risky when the information given is based only off the group being tested. For example some one can say all zebras have stripes with out seeing every zebra. Although this would sound logical, it would be impossible to... ... middle of paper ... ... Fibonicci. (2011, January 1). Logical Reasoning - Fibonicci. Fibonicci RSS. Logic affects our lives everyday. We use it both subconsciously and consciously to make decisions which can be as important as our careers, or as insignificant as what to eat for lunch. Logic can also be used in other ways. Ironically, others’ bad logic can result in us learning something just as much as we learn from our own bad decisions. This is shown in Monty Python’s Quest for the Holy Grail.

First of all, it is important for us to know what logic in itself is. Logic comes from a Greek word “ logike”Firstly it describes the use of valid reason in performing an activity. Secondly it tends to name normative study of what reasoning is.Logic was studied in several civilizations from China to Greece.
The study of philosophy has become a lost art. Philosophy does not receive credit for the achievements received, when all work stems from philosophy. One important branch of philosophy is logic. Through logic, the world can see how questions are developed, why questions are asked, and how questions are invalid. Many logicians have been formulating hypothesis centering around logic for years. Aristotle and George Boole are two logicians who are extremely well known for their work in the philosophical field and their conflicting viewpoints when considering logic. Diversity management efforts are based on a voluntary commitment to accept each individual’s uniqueness and to respect and learn from individual differences. In fact, diversity management efforts require a great deal of commitment particularly since it includes more than just image based differences (Cole, Salimath). Because it includes all differences and actively works to change prejudicial attitudes and beliefs, diversity management is the perfect complement to affirmative action. Together they can create an inclusive society that is race- and gender-conscious. Being race- and gender-conscious will highlight each individual difference which will facilitate acceptance without judgment and insensitivity.

Inductive reasoning is logical reasoning where people have a lot of the information and use that to reach a conclusion. It is viewing the available data and figuring out what will be the results. For instance, from an online article, it demonstrates, “Inductive reasoning is a logical process in which multiple premises, all believed true or found true most of the time, are combined to obtain a specific conclusion” (Rouse, 2013). It shows that there are a lot of ideas to analyze and calculate what the possible outcomes will be. It can also be done by looking at patterns. When looking at patterns, it is important to study it to see what is recurring. This makes it possible to predict what will happen based on the knowledge that has been collected. Inductive reasoning is using information or events that have happened in the past to see what is in store for the future.
