Carbon dioxide is a chemical compound with the chemical formula CO2. It is a naturally chemical compound arranged with two oxygen atoms and a single carbon atom. Carbon dioxide has a sharp odor, colorless, and a sour taste. This substance can be remained in the atmosphere for fifty to two hundred years. It is formed in fermentation, during combustion of carbon containing materials, in organic decomposition, and in respiration of animals and employed by plants in the photosynthesis of carbohydrates. Not only the natural process that can produce carbon dioxide, human also participate in producing carbon dioxide. The main contributors of carbon dioxide that human made are from transportation, manufacturing, and construction. Beside the fossil fuel combustion in vehicle engine, deforestation is also the major factor that increases the carbon dioxide emission in the atmosphere. Human can use carbon dioxide for many things such as in the chemical industry, the food industry, and the oil industry. Factories in chemical industry use carbon dioxide to make fire extinguisher. Food industry can use carbon dioxide to make beverages such as soda water and carbonated soft drinks. Then, it is also often used for fermentation in wine making process to cool down bunches of grape quickly. Carbon dioxide can be utilized by oil factory to enhanced oil recovery. The major source of methane in the atmosphere is produced by anthropogenic activity, such as forest and land burning and in the digestive process of ruminant animals. Methane production from ruminant animal is affected by two main factors: digestibility of the feed and quantity of feed intake. Animal nutrition researchers and scientists are looking for ways to reduce the methane emissions from ruminant animals such as cattle in order to improve livestock production and fix the environment problem. Current research, in the field of public health, is looking at the adverse health effects of hydraulic fracturing on community members. This research is focused on looking for evidence-based research in processes, procedures, materials and cleanup from drilling and running a well. In recent years, several states such as Maryland and New York, have called for special advisory commissions to examine the potential adverse health implications for the community if the moratoriums are lifted and fracturing is allowed to start. A lot of the previous research conducted focused on the anecdotal perspective of the adverse health effects. This perspective does not offer scientific verification that the fracturing processes are causing them or evidence where the contaminations are coming from.

("Facts about Pollution from Livestock Farms”) Scientists say that about 14% of the world’s greenhouse gases are released by said agriculture industries, which is a growing concern for climate change and global warming. (Silverman) The meat industry uses one-third of all the fossil fuels consumed in the United States. (Moore) There is no question that farming animals has a negative effect on the environment and steps should be taken to mitigate air and water pollution risks and future deforestation. If animal agriculture was phased out, land used for animal grazing could be returned to forest land and some of it converted into fields for cultivating crops for humans. A global shift toward veganism, resulting in the elimination of the meat and animal agriculture industries, would protect the environment from various detrimental effects.

Carbon Monoxide is a colourless and inodorous toxic gas produced through the incomplete combustion of different carbon-based fuels, such as in products and apparatuses motorised by internal combustion engines (Carbon Monoxide Questions and Answers, n.d.), that have failed to convert carbon or carbon-based fuels into carbon dioxide (Encyclopædia Britannica, 2014). CO production can also occur naturally when volcanoes erupt, releasing the poisonous gas into the atmosphere. CO is used as an aid to engineer organic and inorganic chemical products (Encyclopædia Britannica, 2014), in fuel gas mixtures for heating in metal production, pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing, to reduce ores and make metal carbonyls, and to fabricate and renew catalysts. “High purity CO is also used for electronic and semiconductor applications” (The Linde Group, 2013). Figure 1 shows the general equation for the incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons to produce carbon monoxide.
