I had heard rumors about this man named Mr. from my siblings and other friends, he sounded like a really smart guy who assigned literally a ton, two thousand pounds, of homework. Mrs. Weber talked to some of us about taking his class, then we went to talk to him for a class period about his class for the next year. This is where I just got a glimpse of what Mr. Mcgee was like, and what I had preconceived, what wrong, he was a really really smart guy, with a hilarious sense of humor, and someone that could somehow make lecturing really fun, though most of what he said went over my head. I kind of wish I could relive this year, because next year will not be the same. With such a small class, we were able to learn a lot better, and grow closer …show more content…

This was one of the first, if not the first, texts that we studied in class. I would classify this as one of my “Favorites” because this text is what introduced me into McGee’s class. It was a huge assignment that I was not ready for at all, I was not mentally prepared. We talked and discussed this this specific piece of literature for quite some time, talking about every aspect in great detail. We also had to memorize it, which even further drove it into our brains. This will always be one of the texts that will remind me of my junior honors English class with Mr. McGee. Along with how it connects with the classroom, it also has a really great message. When everyone came to hear Abraham Lincoln speak, they expected to hear about how bad the south was, and how they should be punished, but Lincoln didn’t even mention that. He got a ton of criticism from the public, but now people see it as one of America’s most important texts. It also references the founding father, and what they thought this nation should be like, “..our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal”. Every aspect Lincoln was able to capture, from the hurt of the people to the new found
