Over decades, our ancestors migrated all around the world spreading genetic characteristics. Interestingly, all humans share similar biological needs like food, water, and two biological parents. What specifically differentiates individuals from one another? In many instances, distinct differences in characteristics, temperament, upbringing, and family structure can separate individuals from certain ethnic groups. Ethnicity separates groups of individuals who identify with each other by common nationality or shared cultural traditions and values. In comparison to race, which refers to the concept of dividing people into populations or groups by various sets of physical characteristics. There was a lot of food, and everyone was able to take home leftovers for the whole week. They are very family oriented, and they expected to know every aspect of everyone 's lives. The elders as we called them this included my grandfather, would mention to the children and grandchildren what they expected from us. They wanted educated, hardworking, middle high-class individuals. They explained how much harder they had it in Cuba and how my great grandparents’ home did not even have tiled flooring, and they lived in a small house. They also mentioned that growing up with 15 brothers and sisters was a big struggle because there was not enough food for all of them on a daily basis. At times, some of the brothers would starve themselves so that their sisters could eat. They revealed that during their childhood they never got an education because their parents were farmers and needed all the children to work so that they can maintain the little they had. My grandfather also mentioned that their home was small and did not have any beds all the children were expected to sleep on the floor next to each other. Also, they did not have showers every day they were expected to wash up in the river near the mountains, which was a rather long
