The Body Shop The Body Shop has branches
all over the UK. They sell body products. They consider testing
products or ingredients on animals to be morally and scientifically
indefensible. Therefore they sell products that are not tested on
animals. They support small producer communities around the world who
supply them with accessories and natural ingredients, and so believe
in community fair trade. They believe that it is a responsibility of
every individual to actively support those who have human rights
denied to them as they also defend human rights in every way they can.
They believe that a business has the responsibility to protect the
environment in which it operate, locally and globally, as they carry
out protect our planet campaigns. Their businesses help charities
including Children On The Edge, Women Kind, and WWF. The Body Shop has
6 main objectives. The main one is to dedicate their business to the
pursuit of social and environmental change. They do this by supporting
the Against Animal Testing, Defend Human Rights, Protect Our Planet,
and Activate Self Esteem campaigns. Another aim is to create a balance
between the financial and human needs of their stakeholders. They hope

The primary problem would be the structure of the organization. This is due to the fact that there are thirteen departments in total which would lead to the failure of the ability to concentrate on long term viability of the business.
Wal-Mart’s philosophy has always been to provide everyday low prices and superior customer service. But this philosophy might have stared potential customers away from Wal-Mart. Many people, including myself, have the misconception that Wal-Mart only sells necessities that the average working class family can afford. An extreme eye opener for me was a recent television commercial by Wal-Mart. I saw that they also sold flat panel televisions, which is considered a luxury item for any social class. After going to their website to see what other luxury items Wal-Mart sold I was amazed at the number of items I found that were not the necessities which I stereotyped them selling. Wal-Mart has to change the public’s opinion of the items that they sell and the types of people that it has in mind of serving.
These past few years haven't quite been all fun and games for John Eyler, chairman and CEO of Toys "R" Us. Shortly after joining the company in January 2000, Eyler set about revamping Toys "R" Us to better compete in the marketplace while brushing up the company's image. Much of the technology that was utilized helped Sam Walton more efficiently track what he originally noted on yellow legal pads. From the very beginning, he wanted to know what the customers purchased, what inventory was selling and what stock was not selling. Wal-Mart now “tracks on an almost instantaneous basis the ordering, shipment, and delivery of literally every item it sells, and that it requires its suppliers to hook into the system, enabling it to track most goods every step of the way from the time they’re made and packaged in the factories to when they’re carried out store doors by shoppers.” “Wal-Mart operates the world’s most powerful corporate computing system, with a capacity (as of late 1999) of more than 100 terabytes of data (A terabyte is 1,000 gigabytes, or roughly the equivalent of 250 million pages of text.).
I agree with you when you mentioned how Trader Joe’s differentiate itself from other grocery stores. Grocery retailers are very competitive, and Trader Joe’s does a good job at offering good-value pricing by lowering their prices.Trader Joe’s care about the most compact detail to attract customer and I find Trader Joe’s service very unique because like you mentioned, the company offer some ingredient online and free samples. However, I think in the long term, Trader Joe not promoting their company will hurt them. Even though the costs of their products are not minimal after cutting out middle men, however, the customers are still willing to purchase their pieces by thinking that they are helping to make a difference to the environment and that is what helps the brand to generate profits. This is no small feat with sales being over 400 billion dollars in 2012 alone. The United States in 2012 only accounted for 62% of the net profits of Walmart making a multinational enterprise. In the business world there are multiple types of performance measures that can be applied to Walmart showing how large this multinational enterprise truly is and the quality it provides. Walmart is able to maximize customer savings and its profit margins by controlling its supply chain by focusing on key aspects. Walmart’s operation’s strategy is the key to their success and must be understood before their performance can be measured as well as how their supply chain effects that performance.
It still comes as a surprise to me that with all the technology in today’s society, we are still relying on animals for cosmetic research. Some people think that it is acceptable and even justified to test on mere animals rather than risk hurting people. So, for these kinds of people, animal testing makes perfect sense. However, in my opinion, animals are living creatures and have the right to live out their lives as nature intended rather than simply surviving in cages while being poked and prodded with whatever scientists fancy. I think it is depressing and sort of grotesque that I am using products that have been tested on animals that are even commonly bred as our pets. So, I began my research to find out what companies still test on animals, why they do so, and what other alternatives they could use in place of animal testing.
