This statement speaks to the importance of investing in children, as they are the future of our society. Investing in children means providing them with the necessary resources, education, and support to succeed. Unfortunately, some children, mainly in communities of color, do not have access to those resources, and that is where the Black Panther Party comes in. The Black Panther Party is committed to providing these resources for African American children, to ensure a better future for them. This reaction underscored the racism inherent in criminalizing efforts to support and uplift Black communities. By shining a light on the racial inequalities in society and advocating for immediate action, the Free Breakfast for Children program served as a powerful counter-narrative to systemic racism. It underscored the need for comprehensive reform and highlighted the resilience and agency of Black communities in the face of persistent discrimination. The Breakfast for Children program “pulls people out of the system and organizes them into an alternative. Black children who get to school hungry each morning have been organized into their poverty, and the Panther program liberates them, frees them from that aspect of their poverty".
