1. The Olympic Games is an event where many athletes from all across the world come to the Games to represent their country. The first known Olympic Games occurred in ancient Greece, in 776 BC. It was suggested that these games were dedicated to their religious worships to their gods, such as Zeus. The people used the game as a meeting for them to worship to their gods. Each game took place every four years; this is where the current Olympics got the tradition. Currently the Olympics are split into two games, one during the summer and one in the winter. Each of them held in a different place. There are two years between a summer game and a winter game; however there are 4 years between two summer games and two winter games. Tourism will grow by having the Olympics there; many people enjoy watching the games live so in that month there will be a peak of tourism. This can continue after the Olympics because it is now known for the country to have both the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics held there under a 2 year span.
Olympic Games can create great economic growth, with all the tourists coming in to Brazil all the stores, hotel and restaurants will benefit in this event. Plus it’s the first time a Latin American Country held an Olympic Game, so presumably many people would be interested in coming there. The owners of stores, hotels or any type of company can use this as an advantage and maybe it can increase sales. Money will be earned and some of it can be used in more appropriate ways, especially the pollution in Guanabara Bay.
Having the Olympics can bring sports fans together; football is a favorite in Brazil they know how to celebrate with each other. Especially having the 2016 Olympics motto being “Live your Passion” and the symbol being people holding hands, it has a lot of expression in it itself. I presume that they want people to understand the meaning of having sport lovers be passionate in the game and just experience it. They are setting up the Olympics with the right spirit, getting people excited for it.
