It was a chilly night, when i turn around to check my clock , 3:10 am I sigh frustrated can't go back to sleep, finally I decided to stand up from my bed, put my shoes on and go to the kitchen. I open the refrigerator and grab the bottle of milk and some Oreos that mom bought me yesterday, when I'm done I clean everything and went back to my room. I try to sleep, but I can't, I'm so excited because tomorrow me and my friends are going to the Bahamas for Christmas break. I woke up at 6 am, our flight its at 10:54 am, I take a hot shower, I wash my dark hair, took me 20 minutes to get out the shower, I choose my favorite pair of jeans, my favorite red blouse and the white converse that I always use, I comb my hair, put some lipstick on. …show more content…
-Carla!- My mom interrupting my thoughts, -we’re here- she said while she opens the truck to take my luggage out. We go to the counter to check me and my luggage in, next to me there's a short girl with really blonde hair, and a pair of intimidating, cold blue eyes who is checked in into the same flight as me. She looked at me with unsympathetic in her eyes, an annoying (scream/yell) made me apart my eyes from the girl when I turn around I saw my friends Abby and Sandra. When ran to meet them up I saw how an creepy old man was about to stole their belongs. I reach out the airport security, they take the old man away, and we continued stroll to check my friends in, as soon we done, me and me friends farewell our
I come home from college and see my mom cooking dinner over the stove as I walk up the stairs. My tiredness sets in as I rush to my room to put down my heavy bag. My mom yells to me as I start to change my clothes.
As my family and I walked into the plane, we were excited. The plane ride to jamaica stopped in L.A. and, after that, it went to jamaica. When we arrived in Jamaica it was really hot, but it was wet. I immediately took off my sweater I was wearing on the plane. We took a bus to our hotel. Then we started swimming in the water park. Every night there was a show in the main stage. The next day we woke up early to go to chukka. It was awesome. We saw a great house, rode on horses, and did a challenge course. After we came back from Chukka, we went to the water park and swimming pool at the hotel. Then we ate at fresh, which we went most of the time. The next day we woke up earlier to go to the dolphin cove. The bus was an hour late, but the wait
Honolulu, Hawaii and Nassau, Bahamas are two very popular tourist destinations. However, in two different oceans, they are both located on an island. The cities each attract tens of thousands of visitors a year. It can difficult to try and decide which place to spend a vacation. I have vacationed in both these places. Honolulu, Hawaii is the best place to travel due to its superior weather, tourist attractions and resorts, and culture.
So I slept great and I feel great. Its an away game at Saint Francis so that means it 's dress up day. I dress up nice so I look sharp, and go to school. School felt like an eternity my classes felt like they went from an hour to two hours long. I could not pay attention no matter how hard I tried. Finally lunch time comes around and that
Well, after many, many grueling hours, we finally arrive home! The trip is over and it was amazing. I cant’ believe how fun it was. I unpack my stuff from the inner surface of the van. I walk up my stone sidewalk and to my wooden front door. I wait for my parents to open it, and then I walk home and smell the familiar sent of my house. I get settled in. I get out of my clothes into new ones. I settle down, and I shortly go to sleep. The trip is over, and it was great.
Currently, our Bahamian nation suffers greatly from the insufferable influx of illegal immigrants, for as to quote the Bahamian song “They coming by boat, they coming by plane, some coming in wheelchair and walking with cane." For too long, our Bahamian people have improperly viewed illegal immigration as a problem of minority when it stands most serious than any other experiencing problems. Invading our territorial boundaries, the fleeing citizens of our neighboring countries ,Jamaica, Cuba and Haiti all contribute to the draining of our social services, increase of job unemployment, overuse of hospital benefits and in some serious cases the increase of our electricity bills.
Ask yourself “if I could take a trip ANYWHERE where would I go” well, I asked myself the same question where would I go? Here is my answer, I would go to the Bahamas because I think that I need to try something new. I think that if I went to the Bahamas then i would try everything because i am very deprived as in i don’t take advantage of the things i could be doing.
I was born and lived in Haiti for eight years of my life. The poverty there is so high that it has been labeled the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. That is where I grew up. People had homes, but they could often be blown away by strong winds. Our materials for building homes was of very poor quality and limited. We had so little money that I often saw kids and their families sleeping on the side of every street corner. I was one of the most fortunate kids. I remember sleeping on a dirt floor in my grandmother’s little hay house when I was around six years old. At least I had a home. I was put in an orphanage where I was later adopted and brought to the United States. Almost everyday, at the orphanage, the kids and I talked of how
Living in two different places is an experience that opens people’s mind to a new way of thinking. The diversities of each country has its own appeal and often times, we find ourselves comparing and contrasting these nations based a variety of aspects. Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences in geography, climate, tradition, and economy between the two countries, Jamaica and the United States of America are extensive.
“It’s Better In The Bahamas”. This slogan advertises throughout the world to attract tourist. Is it really better in the Bahamas? Many articles on television and in the news paper address the issues in the Bahamian society. While many pay no attention to this dilemma, many Bahamians live in constants fear. Miss Bijoux a single parent lost her job two months ago. One night she lay down on her bed thinking of all the possibilities of obtaining a job. Deep in thought how is she going to care for her children, and how is she going to help her twelve year old pregnant daughter? Lost to the world her phone rings, hello she said the caller answer hi, is this Bijoux residence? I am calling from PMH (Princess Margaret Hospital). Mrs. Bijoux drop the phone and runs to her children’s rooms. When she reaches to her son’s room he was not there, she kneel down on the floor and recites a prayer “Lord please let my son be okay”. Immediately, she calls her family to pick her up and drive her to the Hospital. When she arrives at the hospital she saw her lifeless son on the ventilator in pulmonary distress with blood stains over his clothes. Without shedding a tear, she waited patiently for good news. Unfortunately, her son expires three hours later. Mrs. Bijoux is a victim of a drive by shooting in Nassau Village. While the Bahamas is battling against the economic crisis, the three major issues in the Bahamian society are crimes, unemployment and sexual abuse.
In the book Beyond Massa: Sugar Management in the British Caribbean, 1770-1834, by John F. Campbell, it’s main focus encompasses and revolves around issues surrounding slavery practices by using Golden Grove estate in Jamaica as a primary source during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The author highlighted the slavery period of the sugar monoculture era, followed by the development of amelioration policies, to the abolition of the slave trade in 1807, and finally the failed industry in 1834. The book uses archival data which logically analyses, revises and modifies the historical ideologies, thus manifesting revisionist philosophies about sugar estates in the Caribbean region. It really sets the reader to have different insights and perspectives with respect to the managerial systems, hierarchical structure, political dimensions, social relationships and a relatively new field of analysis- the Human Resource Management strategies. This report seeks to discuss the ideas of color-class hierarchy, the role of gender and sex, the introduction of the Amelioration Act while analysing the role of slavery and Human Resource Management (HRM) and lastly the effectiveness of the writer’s work and it’s relation to the current course.
When I came inside I was so cold that I felt like a ice cube so my mom made me some hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was steaming hot! I had to wait for 8 mins, but it was worth it because it was so tasty and warm. My mom then told me that dinner was done. When I had smelt the delicious dinner mom made, my stomach had roared with hunger and I swear everyone heard it. We had a giant turkey, some mashed potatoes, and mac cheese it was the perfect family dinner, so delicious. When dinner was done, my mom said I had to lay down for school tomorrow so I leaped in my warm, cozy bed and put the covers over me and my mom said “Goodnight.” Man, today just seemed to fly by so quickly with all the excitement I had. As i drifted off to sleep all i could think about was how much fun my day was and I wish every week we had a snow
twentieth century Caribbean woman writers, are as complicated as they are vast. These authors show
The Plantation society was a closed system of stratification and this was based on the criteria of race and colour. It was seen to be an aggregate economic foundation. As indicated by George Beckford (1972) ‘Plantation Society ties everybody in its grip to the one assignment of executing the will of the proprietor or proprietors. What's more, since it is transcendent and inescapable in the lives of those living inside its limits, it is also a total institution.’ Fundamentally, it was a hierarchical structure where blacks and browns were subordinate to white control. At the exceptionally top of this social structure you would locate the white rulers or the planter class which had white estate owners and the individuals who were connected with them. This was trailed by the assorted or mullato populace alongside the more sad whites and free non-white individuals, who still would have added to social texture of the general public despite the fact that they didn't have much political power. Furthermore, at the exceptionally base of this
I opened my eyes at around 9:00 a.m.; I could not imagine that today was my graduation day. I was so excited to get ready for the day I had dreamt of for twelve years. I called my cousin Sandra to remind her to do my makeup because she is a makeup artist. I told her that I needed it to be flawless because I wanted this day to be complete in everyway. I took a shower to get ready for the hair salon because I was going to dye my hair red for the first time. I wanted a simple hairstyle; straight on top with curls at the bottom.
