In today’s society we idolize those who are subjected in being above others. People that we constantly follow, making their lives and problems apart of ours. All because they live the so called the “American Dream”. What does the American Dream mean? It means having a lot of money, owning a big house, having the newest car, and the most beautiful wife. We know these people as celebrities. When it’s boiled down to reality it just means having a lot of things, more than you need to survive. It’s a lifestyle created by the Masons of this country. Majority of these celebrities made it to where they are because they get us to endorse them. My father was a mechanic and my mother was a part time worker and stay at home mom. I learned early on in life that everything had a price you had to pay. When we used to go into stores there was always something that caught my eye. Something I felt I NEEDED to have and would just make excuse on why would I need it. My mother would tell me then “maybe some other time, I don’t have enough”. I would get mad and start acting up. Fast-forward to today I understand what my mother was saying now. I work for everything that I have now. I understand that sometimes or most of the times you cant always get what you want because you still don’t have what you need. So it’s a matter of scarifies, you give up on getting something that you want and save your money so you can end up getting something that you truly need. Singers’ point is that we should only buy what we need and give the rest away. He says by doing this that we can reduce poverty or even end it. I don’t agree with this for much reason. Although we should donate to the needy, we shouldn’t give everything we have
