The original publisher was a Brazilian publishing house; Rocco, another Brazilian publishing company, was the first large publisher to publish the book. Harper is one of the American Publisher.The Alchemist is a important literary phenomenon's of the 20th century. The books have sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and has been translated in many languages.The genre of The Alchemist is quest, adventure fiction, drama, and fantasy. The Alchemist tells a story about a young shepherd named Santiago. He then finds a fortune teller to interpret his dream and she tells him to go to Egypt where he meets an old man named Mechizedek. Mechizedek tells Santiago to go on a journey to find his Personal Legend at the pyramids. Santiago sells his flock and sets out on his journey. When he comes to Tangier, he gets robbed then find a job at a crystal merchant. Santiago learns lesson form the merchant and teaches him to take risks. Santiago gets the money he needs within a year and cashes it in and continue his Personal Legend. He then meets an Englishman and he tells him the alchemy that turns metal into gold is on a stone called Emerald Tablet. While traveling they have to stop in Al-Fayoum where Santiago falls in love with Fatima. Santiago has a vision about an attack the alchemist hears about it and ask him to join him on a trip, then he teaches Santiago to pursue his heart and leave Fatima. The alchemist tells Santiago about the Soul of the universe. They get captured by the Arab soldiers during the journey and for the exchange of their lives the alchemist gives them all Santiago money and tell them he will turn into the wind in the following three days. Santiago does not trust in his self, but on the third day he prays for the wind and god and he disappears. The tribe was amazed and let him go and then they keep traveling. Then they got to Pyramid and Santiago starts digging for gold, but gets beat up by two men. Santiago starts telling his story about his journey and they stop getting beat up him up because they think he has no money. One of the men tells Santiago about his dream that it was a treasure buried in an unbounded church in Spain under a sycamore tree. The tree is the same one Santiago had his dream under and he realized where his treasure was. He goes back
