The movie- The movie I chose was “Hope Springs”. I chose this movie because after reviewing all of the other movies, this one appealed to me the most. I question things such as, “Is the spark still there?”. I specifically chose this movie to get a better understanding of relationships in later life. The plot- The plot is based around two individuals, the husband, Arnold, and the wife, Kay. Arnold and Kay are a middle-age couple who seem to be on the verge of breaking of their marriage. Kay seemingly feels as if her and her husband do not have much of a marriage anymore. While Arnold, doesn’t feel as if there is anything wrong with their marriage. Arnold, doesn’t seem very interested in Kay and even lacks giving her any attention at all. The …show more content…

The aging clock theory is a theory that refers to the idea that aging is a biological function that everyone will undergo. The aging clock theory is evident in the movie while looking at Arnold. Arnold seems to have been aging very normally. Arnold now has classes, mostly likely as a result of his eyes going bad due to aging. Arnold also, isn’t able to run after Kay while he runs away from him because she is mad at him. Also, Arnold is most likely not as functional as he used to be, in terms of being sexually aroused. I do not believe the writes fell to stereotypes, because the depict the way Arnold experiences aging in such a unique way. I believe that the therapist was able to therapist was able to help both Kay and Arnold understand, the idea of them advancing in age, but still being capable of acting towards each other as they did in their younger years. I was not surprised, by anything in particular. I believe it is very normal that Arnold and Kay were unable to do what they used to. The situation of Kay running away from Arnold could have been handled differently. Kay could have stayed and worked out the issue with Arnold instead of running away from him and solving nothing. This message helps society understand that as you age you are not able to complete the tasks you used during your younger
