TMJ, also known as the Temporomandibular Joint, is the joint between your skull and your jaw. This joint is very important to the jaw because it helps the jaw to move properly. instances where their jaw cracks or they have moments where they lose the ability to move it. People know a lot about TMJ syndrome, but have yet to clarify the specific reason people may get this muscle disorder. Although they don’t know everything thing about the causes, the possible factors that may contribute vary from stress to chewing gum on a regular basis.

They also recommend you get a CT scan, X-Rays, or an MRI. If you don’t pass the test and you problem involves the opening tissue, they can determine it is one of four things, including TMJ muscle and joint disorder.
To avoid getting TMJ disorder, we can make a few changes throughout our daily lifestyles. We can cut down how many times we eat tough foods by replacing them with softer choices. Secondly, we must try to stay away from chewing gum. We can also take our posture in everyday sitting into careful consideration. Lastly, we can wear protective mouth guards if you find yourself accidentally clenching. All these steps we can take to prevent getting this disorder are fairly easy, if we can maintain a better focus on how our daily habits can be crucial to our
jaw. There are a lot of at-home treatments you can use to relieve your pain. For any other pain you may have in your body you can always use an ice pack to take away the inflammation. Another common remedy is by simply just taking a pain, inflammatory reliever, such as: Advil, Aleve, and Motrin. Another effective solution may be by just massaging or stretching your jaw and neck muscles. Or you can even go to Physical Therapy so they can tell you the exact exercises you can do to strengthen the muscles around to relieve the pain. If it’s really bad and holds you back from your duties, you can possibly get a prescription for medical marijuana even though most people wouldn’t want this prescription just for their jaw. There are people who actually get cosmetic procedures such as Botox to calm their jaw muscles.
