Temperaments

Temperaments are something we are all born with. They display personality traits like attitudes, personal values, and talents. We can not change our temperament. It is what makes us who we are. We should be thankful God has given us different temperaments. A temperament is the the combination of inborn traits that subconsciously affect man’s behavior. Each temperament has its strengths , challenges, Qualities, and shortcomings. The four temperaments are melancholy, Phlegmatic, choleric, and sanguine. The four temperaments were originated in ancient times. They were originally known as the four humors.

We are created in the image of God. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created him.” God has given your your temperament for a specific purpose. God has a plan and purpose for our life, so be thankful God made you like he did.

The first temperament is melancholy. Melancholies are introverted sensitive perfectionistic. They have unrealistically high standards for themselves, and others. They want things to be a certain way, and when they are not they get distressed. Many people with a Melancholy temperament wish to understand the details of everything in life. The reason is because to be uninformed is to stray from perfection. They assume the worst out of situations.They are very pessimistic people. They usually ask very specific questions. They do this to get a clear understanding of the subject. If something seems wrong they will not be able to let the situation be. When they argue they argue for the situation not themselves. They also plan before acting. They do not make rash impulsive decisions. They complain a lot. Not in a demanding way rather th...

...nes including myself have a impulsive side. Peter Cut the ear off of an attacker at Christ’s betrayal. Who else but a sanguine such as Peter to ask to walk on water with the Lord.

Overall I see myself and Simon Peter alike in many ways. We react to situations the same. God has blessed us both with a sanguine temperament. Like God used Peter, He will use me. With God's guidance, and influence I can bear fruit just as Peter did.

Whether you are melancholy, phlegmatic, choleric, or sanguine. No matter what temperament you have be thankful that God has blessed you with it. It is what separates us from one another. If we were all the same the world would be a boring place. God has given us all different personalities for a reason. We are all apart of his great design, and plan. So the next time you wish you were different, remember you are perfect in God’s eyes.
