Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Twelve hundred dollars. The amount of money needed to create the first issue of the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; a group of four crime fighting ninjas that take on an
interesting body form. This group is interesting in the fact that they are a very successful
parody of another super hero from the past. After watching the movie and doing some
research on the hero Daredevil, it seems that the storylines are similar and will be
explained later. The turtles are also interesting in that they do not have powers just more
or less karate skills. The turtles also have special meaning to me in that I grew up with
them but never really comprehended the history.

Only 3,000 copies were produced and they sold out very fast (Wikipedia,2007). A few
months later, the origin would sell for over 50 times what it actually cost (Wikipedia,
2007). These comics were very dark and definitely not for kids. Instead of getting the bad
guys sent to jail, they would kill.
The first issue of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is available to view on the
internet and the adventure they go on is a great introduction to all of the major characters
and also to the type of actions the turtles are willing to take. The first issue begins with
the turtles fighting 15 members of a gang. They defeat them and run away as the police
were showing up. When they got back, Splinter told them of their origins. The origin of
the turtles starts out in Japan. There is this man named Homato Yoshi and he is a
respected ninja and a high ranked member of the Foot Clan. Yoshi had a pet rat named
Splinter and Splinter would imitate Yoshi's pratice of ninjutsu. He was also in love with a
woman named Tang Shen, but someone else loved her, Oroku Nagi. Shen rejected

Seppuku was described as an ancient ritual where someone kills
them self in order to get back their honor. He refuses however and takes out a grenade.
Donatello then saves everyone by throwing his bo at him, which caused Shredder to fall
and the grenade exploded. For many I¡¯m sure thought that this would be the end of
Shredder but as the years go on we find out that it was just the beginning.
While reading issue one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I began to wonder
if the turtles had any meaning outside of just being turtles that could fight. At first
nothing stood out because it was in black and white. Then looking at pictures in color I
noticed that each was wearing a different colored mask. After doing some research I
came up with the following insight. Leonardo wears a blue mask, the color blue means
calm, loyal, faithful and punctual. Leonardo is described to us as a strict martial arts
student who is calm and decisive. Donatello wears a purple mask. The color purple is
described as intelligent or mind stimulating. Donatello is described to us as the brains of
the operation. Michelangelo wears the color orange. Orange means energy and
...and has to fight down his emotions, so we can relate to him. Ultimately, though, he keeps his self-control and wins out in the end, making him a true hero and a fine character.
In the ancient Japanese culture, one great aspect was on how they emphasized on the intrinsic themes of loyalty and honor. They had fierce warriors known as samurai’s. A samurai was a traditional warrior who would protect and be loyal to their masters no matter what. They were known to be skilled soldiers, benevolent men, self-sacrifice, sense of shame, along with other major characteristics that embodied them as a samurai. While this class of warrior no longer exist today, the remembrance of a samurai is present in the minds of the characters in the novel, The Samurai’s Garden by Gail Tsukiyama. Tsukiyama does a fascinating piece of work by really elaborating and describing the great attributes that Matsu possess of a true samurai. In the
Some colonist got tired of this navel superiority and decided to do something about it. The turtle was born. The turtle was going to be the first submarine used for war purposes.
They even memorialize their group consciousness with a name and recorded history that recalls moments when fantasies chained out.
The first notable example of the turtle’s obstacles is shown in a simile. Ryan portrays the turtle’s movement as “graceless, like dragging/ a packing-case places” (5-6). When one is struggling to move a heavy package, one usually starts to push or pull it slowly; one is using all his strength to move it, yet the package barely moves. The lethargic movement of moving the package is similar to the slowness of the turtle. This slowness is an obstacle because it prevents the turtle from travelling far distances and escaping from predators. Nevertheless, the fact that the turtle perseveres through this struggle shows that she is
This mask belongs to the minor character Mercutio; consequently, its main colors are orange, brown, and green because he is flamboyant, reliable, and young. To begin with, the color orange represents Mercutio’s most recognizable and dominant trait: flamboyance. It is exhibited most in his Queen Mab monologue, “Oh, then I see Queen Mab hath been with you./She is the fairies’ midwife, and she comes/In shape no bigger than an agate stone/On the forefinger of an alderman/Drawn with a team of little atomies...And in this state she gallops night by night/Through lovers’ brains, and then they dream of love...This is the hag, when maids lie on their backs,/That presses them and learns then first to bear,/Making them women of good carriage,”(Act I, Scene 4, lines 53-57, 70-71, 92-94).
Throughout the animal kingdom, adaptations take place continuously and even the smallest of changes can leave a significant impact. Examples can be seen within any plant or animal. One example would include sea turtles, specifically, the Loggerhead Turtles. These turtles are native to the Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans as well as the Mediterranean Sea (Deurmit L 2007). They thrive in either temperate or tropical climates and can live in a myriad of biomes (Deurmit L 2007). These biomes include the pelagic, reef, coastal, and brackish water (Deurmit L 2007). Loggerhead turtles are omnivores and can eat anything from insects to aquatic crustaceans, to macro algae (Deurmit L 2007). According to Deurmit (2007) Caretta caretta is classified into Animalia Kingdom, Chordata Phylum, Vertebrata Subphylum, Reptilian Class, Testudines’ Order,

When Alice turns around she sees the Duchess trying to be friends with her and making Alice uncomfortable. The Queen of Hearts then walks up and asks Alice if she has heard the Mock Turtle’s story yet. Then saying she hasn’t Alice is escorted by the gryphon to go listen to the Mock Turtle’s story. On the way to meet the turtle the gryphon told Alice the queen never executes anybody. When they finally get there the gryphon asks to hear the story and the turtle says sit down. He then starts by saying he used to be a real turtle once. The Mock Turtle then tells about school and his teachers from when he was young and how they “lessened” their lessons everyday.
While the story follows the perspectives of several vigilantes, the most interesting of the group
Loggerhead sea turtles, scientifically labeled Carretta carretta, are the most global nesting turtle species and the most abundant in United State’s waters. While they are not nesting, they travel through open ocean water, spending time searching for food and resting on the sea floor. These turtles were nicknamed Loggerheads because of their large heads and strong jaw needed to break the shells of crustaceans. Loggerheads have the largest nesting range of any sea turtle, inhabiting the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans (Spotila, 2004).
The original turtle has long been, and continues to be, a major evolutionary enigma. The oldest turtle clearly identified the turtle. Since turtles appear suddenly in the fossil record, the latest data is not changed with the creation of the event is followed by diversification and
I fully accept that I am a geek when it comes to the Marvel superhero comics. I could not help but note that after watching Captain America, my favorite from the Avenger’s series, I noticed Chris Evans capitalized on the classic iconic American Hero. Typically when we hear superhero we think of a man that begins with Bat, Spider or Super. Yet none of these men fully embody the American icon of comic heroism. While using a narrative paradigm and Bourke I will examine our icon in comparison to a Norwegian Viking through a postmodern lens. Comparing these two icons may seem as an odd comparison, however their similarity might shed light into who the American hero really is.
