The Negative Effects of Technology on the Human Condition
Technology is causing humanity to become short-sighted. It may not be rapidly affecting the human race but it is definitely slowing our evolution. The evolution and use of technology are negatively affecting our brains and the way we think a well as negative physical effects. Technology is causing the human evolution to come to a halt because it is causing so many mental and physical impairments that do not benefit the human race.
Technology intake is causing many problems with mental instability that is not healthy for the average human. Mental instability is anything that has to do with negatively changing the human

AOL (America Online, Inc.) and Opinion Research Corporation in the U.S. found that 59% of Americans check their email every time one comes in. The number of emails sent to employees stresses them out and serves as a distraction which leads to a decrease in productivity. A study conducted by Microsoft found that once focus is lost it takes 15 minutes to gain it back. In 1987 Robert Solow stated very comically “You can see the computer age everywhere but in the productivity statistics.” (Badat). People are able to access whatever online domain they please. Even with online restrictions, it is simple and easy to find a way to get around them. There is no boundary between business and personal life with technology and it is creating a huge decrease in …show more content…

In “Attached to Technology and Paying a Price” (part of the New York Times’ “Your Brain on Computers” series), journalist Matt Richtel details technology’s effects on an actual family and recounts their experiences. Although Drs. Restak and Samuel are both widely respected in their individual fields, Mr. Richtel’s journalistic career has been almost exclusively devoted to studying technology’s impact on our lives and attention, and his views are voiced loudly throughout his work, even though they are not explicitly stated. In the course of reading “Attention Deficit”, it can feel at times as if Dr. Restak had come to the conclusion that technology is damaging to our brains and our personal lives long before putting pen to paper, then proceeded to search for evidence to back up his viewpoint.
Cell phones in hand, and laptops so small they fit in purses. Computers at our homes insure we can get on the internet and surf the web for answers for anything that may need to know. As the growth of technology has evolved the past twenty years we have become more dependent upon it for everyday things. From alarms, calendars, ‘googling’, counting our steps to make sure we stay healthy, connecting us to our friends and family; simple things that we often take for granted. Though our lives are often ruled by the various technology pieces out there to keep us ‘grounded during the day, some pieces of technology are not healthy for our bodies and minds.
Using technology can have certain effects on the brain. Nicholas Carr’s magazine blog, “The Web Shatters Focus, Rewrites Brains,” tells us an experiment from a ULCA professor, Gary Small. Gary Small
In the last two decades, video games have become popular, especially violent video games such as Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament, and Grand Theft Auto, among others. According to Anderson and Bushman, “[a]bout 10% of children aged 2 to 18 play console and computer video games more than 1 hour per day; among 8- to 13-year-old boys, the average is more than 7.5 hours per week” (354). Due to their explicit violent content, violent video games have been seen as a negative influence in society by promoting aggression in the real world, thus increasing violence in society. Most people assume that playing violent video games has negative effects on players because violent video games create aggressive behaviors on the people who play them. However, studies show that violent video games bring some benefits, and people who normally choose to play violent video games are the ones that have been raised or have been exposed to a violent environment.

Technology has changed our world dramatically over the last several decades. Several generations before us did not have air conditioning, telephones, television much less internet. However, today we have access to all of this and more. Technological advances have not only made changes in how we communicate, but also in how everyday tasks are done. The New York Times explains how social media affects children’s behavior and academics, and how the concept of dating has been altered while Louis C. K. explains how the 21st century takes little things for granted and YouTube channel charstarlineTV shows how daily activities can no longer be done without the use of cellphones.
Whether technology is with us or hurting us, we still have to use it and it affects our lives daily. We need it to get a hold of someone. We need it to do our jobs. Most importantly, we need it to keep our lives away from harm. There are many ways to manipulate technology, but technology has more good to it than bad. There are those who use it for good, like investigators so they can figure out the real story. Then there are those who use it for bad, just like those who commit cyber bullying along with other minor and major things. We need technology regardless if people argue they like or not. There is no way to stop technology and keeping people from making it better. With the developments in technology, we may be able to enjoy all the pricey luxuries and still enjoy life at the same time.
Technology have developed and over the time it changed our lives to a great point of communication. We enjoyed technology from a phone to a laptop so much that people now don't enjoy the outside nature to stay fit but rather sit on a screen all day. Although technology is helpful for communication, people should know that technology is harmful because it damages the brain and it causes neck pressure over time.
Technology is unavoidable in our modern lifestyle. You wake up, you use technology; you use technology while cooking, while eating, while driving. While you’re lying in bed before you fall asleep, you use technology, technology wakes you up in the morning. Is all the technology around you good for you, or is it harmful to your health? Was our society healthier or safer before all the advancements? So many questions and concerns about all of the technology we crave, but there are very few people who know the answers. Technology affects all parts of human life. It can create jobs, motivate people to get active, and assist people in learning, but this does not balance out that there are dangers that follow the use of technology.
The children roaming in our present society have gotten more violent, their minds are slowly corrupting as the generations pass by, and all for what? This dramatic change in society is being brought by present day video games, which ultimately contribute to youth violence, for they alter behavior and can be seen in the daily, natural lives of the kids in today’s environment.
Technology has brought society toilets that flush on their own and faucets that determine how much water you require. People now have sidewalks that move and escalators. It has brought the age of computers, and even magical, intelligent machines. All have been intended to simplify life and solve problems. They certainly are not all bad. Society has progressed at the helm of technology. Yes, it is superior. However, it is also detrimental, frustrating and dangerous.
Technology is truly taking a turn for the worst on mental health. Technology is the future, it’s supposed to be the greatest thing to ever happen. Although technology may be helping the world out, it is hurting the people who use it. Technology is taking over lives and damaging mental health, it is the main cause of mental health issues and it needs to be taken seriously. Technology is not beneficial for mental health because it is causing isolation, depression, and mental illness in children.
Technological advancement has in many ways benefited human society as a whole, and humanity shows no signs of slowing down. However, even though all this new technology has had a beneficial growth on the world and ways words cannot describe, the greatest impact being on the human mind. More specifically and dangerously the minds of the growing youth. Technology has done nothing but make communication easier for people, especially through the invention of the smartphone. Society ignores the social and emotional development of the mind due to this new technology, which can be connected to stress, loneliness, and inattentiveness.
Technology isn't the reason why it is hurting us, it is our dependence on technology that hurts. Technology provides us many tools that are very important to us, the development of science has helped us make our lives comfortable. Our computers help us work, research and learn. Using Google helps us learn, but there are some things that you just can't learn from. That way technology is very helpful, but we need to be aware...
Using computer, internet, cellphone, television, etc. make peoples’ lives easier and more comfortable. Young people are the most users of it. They cannot think of a single day without using a technical device. Tara Parker-Pope is an author of books on health topics and a columnist for the New York Times. In her article, she expressed that, “The International Center for Media and the Public Agenda at the University of Maryland asked 200 students to refrain from using electronic media for a day.
