However, technology can streamline schedules, simplify work and home businesses, coordinate activities, and much more”( Williams). Most of the time we need to schedule dates and appointments to things therefore really without technology no one would be able to place an order or make an appointment. Technology and the Brain As a college student, using the internet and technology is a daily task. Everything you need for your classes: schedules, homework, quizzes, and even tests are all online. The brains ability to adapt, and handle the lost of a sense is proof enough that the internet is changing people. However Oliver sacks author of “the minds eye”: proves to us that not all blind people or human beings in general are effect the same way by lose. Sacks talks about in his article that the human brain does not stop learning and evolving past a certain age. In fact it is the complete opposite: the human brain adapts over time to what ever circumstances that might challenge it. It is because of this finding that it is remarkable able that the blind are able to adapt with their disability. The same way Nicholas Carr author of “is Google making us stupid”; points out how the internet and technology in general is changing how human beings interact with everyday life. It is because of the internet Carr says that “now my concentration often starts to drift after two or three pages. I get fidgety, lose the thread, begin looking for something else to do. I feel as if I’m always dragging my wayward brain back to the text . The deep reading that used to come naturally has become a struggle”(67). The influence technology has on Carr's mind might scare him, however with the knowledge Sacks has discovered it is possible to relate the loss of deep reading to blindness. Therefore if the brain is able to conform to the loss of sight the same could be said about the loss of deep reading. The blind have been shown to adapt to there new lack of vision; however, where does the adapting measures of the blind relate to Carr's argument about the ease of technology. Carr might fear deep reading and technological changes but Sacks shows that we might not really lose anything we just conform to a new approach. Technology does change you, but it ...
Evidently, technology can be used in a way that helps us with everyday problems but the way technology has been directed it changes culture in a way that is not so good. It can change many lives, by the way we eat because we tend to eat ‘junk food’ when using the computer. It also changes how we live, in the sense that we would rather be online than outside. Therefore I have to say that technology can be a foe. However, technology is more of a friend than we may assume.
The multitude of positive things that technology has provided society with, outweigh the negatives. Even though computers are expensive to buy and leave many behind in the digital divide. The benefits of technology are hard to turn down. Even though the Internet and social media enable the spread of fake news, Facebook and Twitter are working hard to fix the issue. The addiction that society has with smartphones is quite troubling, but if society remembers to just put down the phone, it will be alright. All of the technology in today’s society is beneficial in some way, but society needs to be aware that is also traps them as
The past two decades have overwhelmed the human experience with technology, along with all its distractions. The direct relationship between the mind and the body’s ability to adjust from these distractions can be extremely difficult .Further research has shown that it has become an addiction for many. Technology has significantly improved our lives as a whole through experiences such as Global Positioning System (GPS), cell phones and social networking allowing us to communicate with different people around the world. These technologies make our daily lives easier and more efficient. However, this also discusses the effects of technology on various aspects of our everyday personal experiences both with each other and with the world around us. On the other hand technologies such as cell phones have become a problem in getting students to focus in class and distracting drivers and thus, resulting in vehicle accidents. Technology is beneficial, but can also become an inescapable distraction in our lives. It is important to view technology as having the ability to make our lives better or worse, yet also as having the ability to change our personal lives and behavioral patterns.
Technology is unavoidable in our modern lifestyle. You wake up, you use technology; you use technology while cooking, while eating, while driving. While you’re lying in bed before you fall asleep, you use technology, technology wakes you up in the morning. Is all the technology around you good for you, or is it harmful to your health? Was our society healthier or safer before all the advancements? So many questions and concerns about all of the technology we crave, but there are very few people who know the answers. Technology affects all parts of human life. It can create jobs, motivate people to get active, and assist people in learning, but this does not balance out that there are dangers that follow the use of technology.
The side effects of the internet or technology are countless however here are 5 ways that technology can affect our daily lives. Due to the over-exposure that children have had to the internet, games or texting, kids have gotten used to having whatever they want instantaneously at their fingertips in a mere matter of milliseconds (Martin). Kids have gotten used to having whatever they want as soon as they ask for it, and that has led to deteriorated patience and an elevated exasperation because then they have to wait. “The excessive usage of online chatting and shortcuts has led today’s young generation’s writing skills decline tremendously” (Martin). Because of the amount of online chatting and shortcuts that are being used now days children are counting more and more on digital communication and they don’t know how to spell different words, how to use grammar properly or how to do cursive writing. “Another interesting study last year found that when people used cell phones they were less likely to be good to others, or to display “pro-social behavior,” ...
Technology in itself is not damaging to us. In fact, many forms of technology help us in our everyday lives. Even so, practically every problem that stems from technology can also be related to overuse of electronics. For example, looking around at a restaurant, a person might find almost every young or old patron on their cell phone. This takes away from dinner conversation and can be frustrating to try to talk to someone who is playing on their cell phone. Being on your phone all the time can also cause romantic relationships to fall apart in certain cases. Another way it is harmful to social interactions is through social networking sites. While social networking has the ability to reconnect old friends, see what family and friends are up to, and stay informed, it also has a dark side. Problems with romantic or even platonic relationships can arise from something as small as who your friends are on Facebook or whom you follow on Twitter. A more likely situation is that romantic relationships could face turmoil if one person finds out that the other has been talking to someone else privately. Under certain circumstances, one partner could think that the other is cheating on them.
According to The Huffington Post, people are on their devices for, on average, about eleven hours and fifty-two minutes a day. That is almost half a day and a lot longer than most people sleep or work. People have not yet realized how they or their families are being affected by this constant use of technology. As a result of technology increasing, children are experiencing health problems, school issues, and social problems. First and foremost, health problems due to the increase in technology usage is becoming a bigger issue than one might think.
Firstly, technology has made life easier for human kind in terms of education and work. Ever part of people’s daily lives is linked to technology in one way or the other. It just makes life easier and things quicker. Technology advances make people see how processes can be made actively and efficiently (Lynda Moultry Belcher, n.d.). For instance, by technological improvements of computers, nowadays, education has greatly enhanced. Students are able to learn and take exams by sitting and home and simply using their laptops or computers. This could highly help disabled people, children who live very far away from any school and who are living temporarily abroad. Other than homeschooling, nowadays technology ...
...many benefits for us, but it is not really needed all the time. Maybe in some situations for people technology is needed every day in their lives. But the fact is that people don’t really need all these new gadgets, they didn’t have all of this kind of stuff back in the day, and they still mad it through. Education is being helped by technology and sometimes just giving the student the answer. Later on though it can affect the student when a more difficult situation comes, they will not know what to do.
Technology has its advantages as well as its disadvantages, some of the advantages are that it makes connecting to people much easier, simpler and in addition, it makes our everyday life simpler in ways people 50 years ago never imagined it would. Not only that, it makes life much more fun and convenient. Now, tackling disadvantages, technology has led us humans into creating weapons of mass destruction and turned us into mindless irresponsible creatures who depend on machines to build everything and get everything for us, forgetting the consequences of health issues such that affect us personally and the ecosystem as a whole. Like everything out there, needless to say, technology has advantages and disadvantages, and we shouldn't forget that the advantages overshadow the disadvantages. Let us not forget that it helped us know achieve and made cultural interactions much easier.

Society has been impacted both negatively and positively by technology. As a result, every aspect of our lives has been influenced by technology. Hence, life is easier, yet it has taken away some of the enjoyment. For example, remember the days of less stress and more personal interaction, when there were no online messages, no emails, social media or cell phones. We have become excessively dependent on technology. As a result, we need to rely less on technology even though it has made learning fun, and business, daily tasks, work, travel, shopping, making new friends and staying in touch easier. In conclusion, technology has a lot of benefits, yet it could take over our lives and become our worst enemy if we aren't careful.
