Technology and Government
Technology is the biggest tool for everything in this day and age, anything from work, knowledge and productivity, to health and entertainment, it is virtually everywhere with almost everything depending on it now. Due to it being so vast and so diverse to help us in all these good ways it could also be a double edged sword. The same tool to help us all develop could be the same one to take our freedom and or to bring society down.
Great advancements technology gives us for most of the time, but what if it is given to the wrong hands or has a major malfunction that causes it to crash and take us down with it, covered by the Press Associated newsletter, or have it be used by the government for total surveillance with

As we all know technology is growing at an exponential rate, which means that there could be very little that it wouldn’t be able not accomplish by itself. What if eventually all jobs are taken by technology its self, if governments decide to use technology to replace humans in labor for financial reasons, how would that change society and culture? and also what would be left for humans to do if there is no need for them anymore? This topic is given to us by Nuwer Rachel in her article. All these topics will be covered and discussed in the paper from the authors perspectives to see how government and technology play such a major role in our world and cover all the things that are in stake.
In reviewing the literature on Government and Technology, I will show that Bradbury Ray viewpoints in Fahrenheit 451 on technology differs from Nuwer, Rachel’s viewpoint, and that ultimately what is at stake in this conversation is the loss of freedom and self-expression, due to affects from technology and government.

The point of technology is a major part of our society “Technology already is controlling critical systems such as airline routes, electricity grids, financial markets, military weapons, commuter trains, street traffic lights and our lines of communications” and it being and controlling a very large part of us has been made many times now and clearly so, it is connected to us from day to day in every aspect possible which can be a danger now. Due to technology being such a big part of us now if all of it connectively has a major failure or malfunction it can bring us down with it. The Press Associated has made an article to confirm titled “Growing dependence on technology raises risks of malfunction” the author states “When technology breaks down now, people's lives go haywire, too.” As we see for the general part technology has been productive and made things collectively easier for us but it is all very connected, which leaves it vulnerable to hackers and major malfunctions. Technology is picking up its own pace and us humans can barely look after it to update and patch security there for we need to be more cautious and careful and it is us to do so to as we are the creators of it and we are the ones that are at stake and if not then we leave all of our lives on thin ice of
I agree with Ray Bradbury, humanity is doomed. Technology has created so many problems, so rapidly, that humans cannot respond to the changes. Technology has become a tool that makes our lives easier, but the negative effects are far too overpowering, making it almost impossible to stop it before it is too late. Examples from “The Veldt,” and “There Will Come Soft Rains,” show the potential dangers that technology could bring. It may seem unbelievable, but just as George Hadley said, “This is a little too real, but I don’t see anything wrong,” (Bradbury 1). Humans cannot see the problem, only past it. Global warming, antibiotic overuse, overpopulation, and modern warfare, are just a few of the threats technology bestows upon us.
Technology has been around as long as people have and has been advancing ever since. It is the reason that we have access to the miraculous tools that we do today. From the forks that we eat our supper with to the cars that get us from place to place technology is everywhere. However, with technology advancing at such a rapid pace, it could pose a threat to our future society. In the short stories “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut and “By the Waters of Babylon” by Stephen Vincent Benet, the authors describe how bleak society could become if we do not take precautions when using technology.
Throughout the book, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, dependency on technology becomes a relevant topic. In the novel, Bradbury depicts that people are obsessed with their technology and have become almost completely dependent on it. Characters such as Mildred exist in today’s modern world and show a perfect example of how society behaves. In today’s society, people use their technology for just about everything: from auto correct to automatic parallel parking; as time goes by people do less manually and let their appliances do the work.
Everyday, our world gains a new technology advancement. At first it began with a computer being created in the year of 1822 by Charles Babbage. Which now turned into having an everything being held on a 4.7-inch screen device. Engagements with other individuals are different now. Preferably teenagers would rather create a group message than start a conversation. The amount of terrorist attacks and technology consumed on a daily basis created a suspicion upon the government. Fahrenheit 451 and Minority report authors both demonstrate their concern on the effect of technology and government have on our future.
Have you ever sat at a table surrounded by friends whose eyes were glued to their phones? According to ABC News, kids spend an average of seven and a half hours on technology and only 38 minutes of reading in a day. In Ray Bradbury’s novel, Fahrenheit 451, the society is very similar to ours. Technology has taken over and has made society very closed minded. People are unwilling to remove their eyes from large TV screens to see why things happen, and to notice all the little things in life that make it worth living. Without open-mindedness and curiosity, society would corrupt like in Fahrenheit 451, all because of an overuse of technology. Technology causes society to become a dystopia and once the society is one, there comes a point where you cannot reverse it. Bradbury emphasizes the importance of paying attention to the world and what happens when you become addicted to technology.
Advances in technology have been used to modernize our lives, yet this same technology can alienate members of society from each other and even alienate individuals from themselves. Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 explores the use of technological advancement as an instrument of government censorship and population control.
Have you ever had the thought that technology is becoming so advanced that someday we might not be able to think for ourselves? There is no questioning the fact that we live in a society that is raging for the newest technology trends. We live in a society that craves technology so much that whenever a new piece of technology comes out, people go crazy to get their hands on it. The stories that will be analyzed are The Time Machine by H.G Wells and The Veldt by Ray Bradbury. These stories offer great insight into technologies’ advancements over time that will ultimately lead to the downfall of human beings. His novel, Fahrenheit 451, suggests that an excess reliance on technology can bring destruction in various forms. While observing the dystopian society through Montag’s eyes, the readers can detect the disadvantages to the surplus of technology. The audience can thoroughly comprehend the theme by analyzing different literary elements utilized by Bradbury and by having some background knowledge of the historical time period when the novel was written.
Ultimately, in his novel Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury is saying that technology, although wonderful, can be very dangerous. Technology can enhance the productivity of our lives, while reducing the quality.Human interaction is the glue that holds society together, and technology simply cannot be a substitute.
According to American actor, Hal Sparks, “Political and social change is always a stagger-step process. One step forward, two steps back.” In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, an uniform society driven by conformity, technology, and commercialism, is shown as a projection of what our society might become. Our society today has not yet reached that point although we are clearly set on a similar path. Issues arising with social conformity, the rapidly expanding digital world, and first amendment rights are major players in what is to come.
In today's world, technology is constantly changing from a new paperclip to an improvement in hospital machinery. Technology lets people improve the way they live so that they can preserve their own personal energy and focus on the really important factors in life. Some people focus their energy on making new innovations to improve transportation and the health of people that may save lives and some people focus on making new designs of packaging CDS. Technology is significant in everyone's life because it rapidly changes what is in the market. But, some new innovations of technology are ridiculous because they serve no purpose in helping mankind.
Whether technology is with us or hurting us, we still have to use it and it affects our lives daily. We need it to get a hold of someone. We need it to do our jobs. Most importantly, we need it to keep our lives away from harm. There are many ways to manipulate technology, but technology has more good to it than bad. There are those who use it for good, like investigators so they can figure out the real story. Then there are those who use it for bad, just like those who commit cyber bullying along with other minor and major things. We need technology regardless if people argue they like or not. There is no way to stop technology and keeping people from making it better. With the developments in technology, we may be able to enjoy all the pricey luxuries and still enjoy life at the same time.
Technology is constantly changing, growing, and evolving, but with each change in technology we risk our own privacy. With each new update we get we are told it improves our network or life, but in reality it makes it easier to invade our privacy just like in the 1984 novel by George Orwell. There are many parallels between 1984 and our present day, like the over watchful eyes of the government for our own good. . One could say that the human race is more advanced than animals because of the technology that it has. Technology is a great thing, but it can also be used to control people.

Society has been impacted both negatively and positively by technology. As a result, every aspect of our lives has been influenced by technology. Hence, life is easier, yet it has taken away some of the enjoyment. For example, remember the days of less stress and more personal interaction, when there were no online messages, no emails, social media or cell phones. We have become excessively dependent on technology. As a result, we need to rely less on technology even though it has made learning fun, and business, daily tasks, work, travel, shopping, making new friends and staying in touch easier. In conclusion, technology has a lot of benefits, yet it could take over our lives and become our worst enemy if we aren't careful.
