The purpose of this paper is to analyze and discuss the effectiveness of the Target Stores supply chain. Target was founded in 1902 by George Draper Dayton who after partnering with the owner of Goodfellow Dry Goods Company for a year decided he wanted to have more involvement, so he purchased Goodfellows renaming it Dayton Dry Goods Company. After purchasing the store Mr. Dayton remained in management until the time of his death in 1938. By this time the store had seen many changes including a name change in 1911 changing from Dayton Dry Goods Company to The Dayton Company, as well as an addition of the Dayton Foundation in 1918. After Mr. Dayton’s death the family continued managing the business until 1983 in which the last two managing Dayton’s retired, ending 80 years of the Dayton’s family management (Target Corporation, 2014).
Overview of Target’s Supply Chain
From the beginning Target stores supply chain has been based on the personal principles of the owner/founder Mr. Dayton. These principles include being known as the store chain that not only offers its customer’s dependable merchandise but the store chain that offers fair business practices and a generous spirit of giving (Target Corporation, 2014).
From these principles the store later came up with the slogan “Expect More, Payless. This slogan represents their continuing commitment to giving and offering their guests value, quality and service all in a fun and exciting environment (Target Corporation, 2014).

Conclusion
In conclusion, throughout this paper we have read that Targets main goal is to provide their customers with quality products and services that will not only meet their needs but exceed those needs as well. Through the research we have not only learned that that this goal has been met but that Target despite meeting this goal has continued to do what they can to continued meeting this goal, over and over again, exceeding it each and every time not only to meet their expectations but to continuously meet the needs of the customers. Always keeping them satisfied as well as keeping them returning each and every time they have a need because they know that Target will have what they need when it’s needed.
