The idea of social responsibility has emerged in society over the past years and has been made out to be a very important concept. The concept of social responsibility covers “social skills while enabling him or her to be active and responsible members of their larger social and political community” (Source 1). Though, to be a socially responsible member of American Society is to participate in social events and be aware of what is happening in the American Society. It is to be able to take action and know the consequences for events that are happening, and to know how one’s actions will affect the community before commiting that action. Being a socially responsible individual can be the first step in making a community greater than it already is. “Civic Responsibility can include Participation in government, church, volunteers, and memberships of voluntary associations” (Source 3). These are all ways for an American citizen to have civic responsibility. Including these duties can lead to the success of a better society. For example, in one of the sources, it is written “Unfortunately, social responsibility and ethers are often not practiced by American companies outside of U.S. borders” (Source 2). However, even though this may be considered true, it doesn’t mean we stop trying. Robert Greczyn Jr. speaks out and says “Do something that in some way contributes to your neighborhood, you country or your world being a better place” (Source 4). If one proves the positive effects of being socially responsible, others from all over the world can and will at least hear about the changes being made. Maybe what other countries need is just influence from someone. Maybe, just maybe, all it takes is the one voice to inspire someone to do something different and speak up in another
