The elements of the supernatural come into play when Billy is unable to pass the door of the woman’s house. Billy says that he was unable to pass the house as if the house drew him in. The reason that this qualifies as an element of the supernatural is how strong of a feeling Billy had to go to the house and how those strong of feelings would not happen usually in everyday life. Along with suspense and elements of the supernatural “The Landlady” also contains an eerie setting. At the beginning of the tale it says how run down the neighborhood,it says how the pillars are cracked, and how the paint is peeling off the wall as well.
