II. INDUSTRY PROFILE & COMPANY PROFILE
2.1 Industry Profile (Foundry Industry):
Foundry industry is a branch of industry that produces the castings by filling molds with molten alloys. The volume of foundry production in the world is more than 80 millions.
Casting is used to produce an average of 40%(by weight) of stock for machine parts, but in some areas of machine building, such casting appliance are tool manufacture, the percentage of castings is 80 percent. Appliance building in castings consumes about 70 percent of all cast stock, the metallurgical industry uses 20 percent, and 10 percent of cast stock is used in hygienic engineering. Cast parts are used in metal working lathes, combustion engines, compressors, pumps, electronic motors,

Finishing:-
Next process is finishing in this process centrifugal force push the dense metal to the mold walls, if any impurities or bubbles flow on the inner surface of the casting walls, as a result of this next processes like machining, grinding or sand blasting are required to clean and smooth the inner diameter of of the walls.
Centrifugal casting used for producing axe symmetric parts like cylinders or disks. these all are typically hollow. Because of centrifugal force, these parts have very fine grain on the outer surface and it consists mechanical properties nearly 30% greater than parts formed with static casting methods. Maybe this parts formed from ferrous metals like low alloy steel, stainless steel, and iron. And also non ferrous metals like aluminum, bronze, copper, magnesium and nickel. The process of centrifugal casting is done by most of the industries like aerospace, industrial marine and power transmission. Parts which are produced in this process are bearings bushings, coils, cylinder liners, nozzles, pipes, tubes pressure vessels, pulleys rings and wheels etc.
Quality Control and Testing of Finished
We use metals to construct all kinds of structures, from bridges to skyscrapers to elevators. The strength as well as durability of materials that are crafted out of metal make the materials ideal not only for construction but also for many other applications.
This new form was called hydraulic die-forming. Hydraulic stems from the Greek word hydro meaning water and aulos meaning tube (McCreight, 2004). In today’s society, hydraulic pressing and stamping of dies are used for everything from making small pots and pans to the more extravagant automobile body models. Another use that has recently developed is the more artistic use of, producing form in silver and gold. In order to achieve this smaller, cheaper scale of die-forming experiment were conducted by Richard Thomas and Ruth Girard, which eventually led to the development of the pourable epoxy steel...
Continuous casting is a casting process that is used in the manufacturing industry to produce molten steel at the temperature of 1,600OC and converted into particular size of slabs. This modern casting process is used in many steel manufactures as it has superior quality of castings, less loss of material, cost reduction and high productivity rate over the cast ingot production [1].
The Foundry is hard to describe in one world. Some people, even me, would say that the main characteristic that ties The Foundry together is industrialization, but there is definitely more to that. If industrialization were the only thing to be spoken about, then there would be no room to talk about the business aspect or the Northeast Corridor, or the agriculture in the Appalachian Plateau. If Industrialization and the Great Lakes were the only things that we focused on, then we would miss the forests and mountains that take part in the landscape of The Foundry. There is diversity in people, land, and culture throughout The Foundry and it will forever be difficult to characterize it in one word.

In the report by Sullivan et.al (7), they tabulated the material composition of a generic mid-size car, and the ferrous materials which used (cast iron and steel) make up nearly two thirds of the total vehicle weight. However, this fraction has been reduced significantly over the last several decades as lighter materials like aluminum and plastics have begun to supplant the use of ferrous materials.

Fiber optics is a new technology that uses rays of light instead of electricity to transmit information over optical fibers at very high speeds. The optical fibers are usually thin strands of glass that are combined into cables and used to send information and computer data in the form of pulses of light. The optical fibers provide much clearer transmission than conventional copper cable and satellite links. The world market for optical fiber continues to grow rapidly, with shipments increasing 14 percent from an estimated 7.0 million kilometers of fiber in 1990 to approximately 8.0 million in 1991. The demand for multimode fiber is predicted to continue to expand through the mid-1990s, with some market analysts indicating that 15 to 20 percent annual growth over the next three years is reasonable. Strong demand is expected for singlemode and multimode fiber to be used in cables for local area networks, telecommunications, cable television (CATV), and transoceanic fiber-optic systems.
In this assignment, I chose to conduct a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis on a bakery company in Kedah called Kek Sayang. Kek Sayang is a family based business. It is also the oldest bakery in Alor Setar. It started with a really small vendor established on 1st January 1980. On 2002, it has transformed to a boutique bakery. On 2006, the shop has been renovated to include a small portion of cafe-sort to cater all kind of customer. It sells varieties of handmade cakes, buns, pastries and cookies. Later on, the menu extended to drinks which include coffee, smoothies and milkshakes. Its vision is to be the best Bakery in Kedah. Thus, only the finest ingredients are used and artisan techniques are applied
The boat building industry is still in its growth stage of the industry life cycle with new competitors and new models entering the industry. There is a continued demand for better, bigger, and more luxurious boats due to growing customer base of wealthy clients. Merbatty is offering luxury goods and it is very much subject to global changes in demand. Therefore, if another global recession happens, there would be a fall in demand for luxury goods and Merbatty would be affected.
Bores can vary in diameter and form, from bigger piston bores in motor cylinders to rather small bores in fuel injection systems. Quality parameters for these bores are form and geometric accuracy as well as surface roughness and structure. All requirements can economically be met by using the honing process as the final finishing operation for readymade bores. Honing is an abrasive machining process using abrasive grains usually made of diamond or Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) in metallic bonding. During the process three movement components, namely an axial movement along the bore axis, a rotational movement around the bore axis and the feeding movement of the honing stone, are combined. The feeding movement of the honing stone is induced by an axial movement of the feeding cone, which is translated into a radial movement of the honing stone at the interface between honing stone and work piece. The feeding movement is decisive for the results of the honing process. For a regulation of the process that enables high process stability and repeatability as well as good quality results from the first part it is important to know about the forces in the feeding system of the
The oil and gas industry, today, striving to discover a harmony between climbing worldwide request and lessening assets, and keep up control and circulation of working expenses. In the oil and gas industry today, most organizations are looking to expand the productivity of their worldwide portfolios during a period of developing questionable matter. Keep up superior ¬ pleasant pussy against high expenses, high costs, and expanded rivalry were never all the more testing.
Metals possess many unique fundamental properties that make them an ideal material for use in a diverse range of applications. Many common place things know today are made from metals; bridges, utensils, vehicles of all modes of transport, contain some form of metal or metallic compound. Properties such as high tensile strength, high fracture toughness, malleability and availability are just some of the many advantages associated with metals. Metals, accompanied by their many compounds and alloys, similar properties, high and low corrosion levels, and affects, whether negative or positive, are a grand force to be reckoned with.
It connects the piston to the crankshaft and is responsible for transferring power or force from the piston to the crankshaft and sending it to the transmission. There are different types of materials and manufacturing methods used in the creation of connecting rods. Steel and aluminum are the most used materials as connecting rod. The common types of production processes are casting, forging and powdered metallurgy.
