Persuasive Essay Globalization plays a bad role to Sustainable prosperity because with Globalization Sustainable prosperity might not be possible. With the constant need for water, food, electricity and materials as well as the way we are continually treating are environment in a bad way causes resources to be wasted or not kept to last. If everyone in the world needs or wants a product it can be challenging to Sustain Prosperously because you will need to suffice that need before the future generations. The reasons for going against this statement is because the world will go through more materials and resources if globalization becomes a factor in all of this and wont obtain sustainable prosperity for the next generation of …show more content…
Homes now days are popping up right, left and centre which means that the companies who built these houses need materials. Many houses use wood panels or wooden beams for support, but the need for wood doesn’t come easy. Many areas of land have been chopped down for this need and may not be able to grow again because of the methods the workers use. Many countries can’t grow the trees needed for the supply so Company’s now are clear cutting rainforests and forests in surrounding countries. This is a dirty trend that if continues may cause a shortage of wood. As well as trees help with are air conditions around the world, Co2 and other earth warming gases are let into the air around us every day, but trees remove this through photolysis and lets out clean breathing air (Oxygen). Trees can reproduce, but only if they are replanted but the companies who come in strip the land and leave aren’t helping the environment and a new tree takes years to grow. So the use of wood affects everyone because if companies continue to just wreck the land without replanting it will only be a certain amount of years before there’s a shortage in wood as well as a high in Greenhouse gases because the less trees the less co2 goes down. Pollution in the air can affect everyone as well as …show more content…
Food is also an item everyone in the world needs to live, but if we are consuming more than we are producing then that’s a problem for sustainable prosperity. Growing food is a good way to produce and eat because it is healthier and can be redone. But many Companies are using flavor enhancing chemicals to make cheap, fake foods taste better. This is a problem with are environment and our health, but at the same time globalizing a food for example, beef can be bad for Sustainable prosperity for everyone because if we are eating more meat than producing it can cause to a lack of meat which means less dairy products and then farmers will be in trouble because they won’t be making money which all reflects back at your economy/Government. This example relates back to Globalizing a product can cause a shortage of food, problems to health and environment as well as downfalls in money for some people and
Our global world is being more connected as we become integrated politically, socially and even economically. Due to the Bretton woods agreement, different countries have been economically dependent on each other in fear for war to erupt. From then on different organizations and policies tied more countries into being economic globalized. This economic globalization had then given us many opportunities in trades and more access to natural resources in other countries. Unfortunately, there are some negative effects that are brought to less developed country. Overall, many people believe that economic globalization does a great work on accumulating our economy and our quality of life.
Humans are damaging the planet to live comfortably, we must change the way food is distributed worldwide, support local farmers and switch to a healthier diet in order to stop global warming. The current global has been getting better for us humans over the years, from eating bread and eggs 3 times a day in the XV century, now we can eat better than the kings of those times, however the much of the food in not healthy and the global food system still fails in getting food to every individual in the planet and in addition it contributes to the destruction of our world. Ms. Anna Lappe explains how the food system contributes to around 1/3 of the global warming issue in her essay “The Climate Crisis at the End of Our Fork”, while a group of Plos one explains the issues about the export and import of food growth over the last 50 years in the
Globalization helps many people achieve greatness. But for the majority it brings hardships and struggle. People will be plagued by the effects of globalization and will have a tough time over coming it. We are far from reaching a point where we can say we have sustainable prosperity throughout our world. But before we focus in on sustaining prosperity, we must first reach prosperity and bring it to all corners or the earth.
“Globalization contributes to sustainable prosperity for all people”. This quote contains mostly truth but there are also many arguments towards how globalization really does contribute to sustainable prosperity for people all around the world. This can be supported by three main points. How the rise of Japan’s economy effected the lives of millions of people. How shipwrecking effects the lives of both the ship companies and the workers in Bangladesh, and how economic growth contributes to the sustainable prosperity of the population in a specific nation. Sustainable prosperity can be defined differently from different individuals because of people’s personal opinions and their perspective is also effected by the people who influence their lives the most, but the main definition of prosperity is to have good fortune, or growth in an economic way. Globalization creates a gateway for sustainable prosperity to all people and gives people all around the world the opportunity to gain prosperity.
Pathogens are organisms that are capable of causing diseases in other organisms and are considered to be ubiquitous. They can be found in water, on surfaces, and on or in humans, plants, and animals. Different pathogens have different signs and symptoms, treatment options, ways of transmission, diagnoses, and prognoses. Chickenpox, also known as varicella, and shingles are diseases caused by the same pathogen and have many of the same characteristics, but are also unique in their own ways.
In order for us to maintain our lives, we need to consume food to supply nutrient-needs for our bodies. As the global population increased, the demand for food also increased. Increased population led to mass production of foods. However, even with this mass production, in under-developed countries, people are still undernourished. On other hand, in developed and developing countries, people are overfed and suffering from obesity. In addition, the current methods of industrial farming destroy the environment. These problems raised a question to our global food system. Will it be able to sustain our increasing global population and the earth? With this question in my mind, I decided to investigate the sustainability of our current global food system.
consumption and even further.” Our current global food system is not sustainable. It does not
The most condemning argument against globalization is certainly the fact that our world’s oil resources are quickly and irreversibly depleting. Oil is integral to globalization as it is the international fuel of transportation and international transportation is the key to globalization. Globalization is essentially the exchange of resources between global economies, so it is inevitable that globalization will cease to exist if countries cannot afford to exchange their resources. For instance, the reason many of the goods in North America are produced in countries like China is because developing countries have a human resource advantage. Chinese companies can pay their workers a fraction of what North American workers are paid to produce the same goods, thus leading to cheaper prices for North American businesses when purchasing the goods. The exchange of goods globally is built upon importers receiving cheaper prices than what they would pay at home, but the cheaper price o...
Now, before I bash globalization it is some positive I would like to discuss. Globalization is great for the American economy; we can supply the world with our goods and services, which in turn can possible, relieve the deficit we’re in. “Homegrown industries see trade barriers fall and have access to a much wider international market. The growth this generates allows companies to develop new technologies and produce new products and services.” (Buzzle) Also, globalization leads to better relations between countries when they create trade agreements. Globalization does not drain every under-developed company but brings a new era of economic change and the hope of being a world super power to certain nations. “Economic globalization gives governments of developing nation’s access to foreign lending. These funds are used on infrastructure including roads, health car...
The perspective here is wide, but let’s focus on resources. Indeed, globalization uses up finite resources more quickly. For instance china’s use of coal has risen rapidly, since joining the world trade organization. This is the same for developing nations. Most developing nations, characteristically, over dependent on natural resources, which are usually poorly exploited. Globalization can accelerate the usage of such a resource, especially, if a developed country is, involved. Developed countries have experts who could easily step in and overexploit unexploited resources. This has detrimental effects on the economy of the victim country in the long run. A valuable resource that could have sustained the country for years to come could easily be consumed by the expanded market and demand for it. For instance, the ever growing relationship between Asian countries like china and japan and Kenya has resulted in increased demand for wild animal products especially elephant husks and rhino horns. This has led to increased poaching as a result. This obviously affects the Kenyan economy, in terms of tourism. In addition, the formation of East Africa community that has resulted in open trade has led to overexploitation of the Lake Victoria fishing by Kenyan
I have mixed opinions about globalization as a whole. I think for the economies of most countries it can be beneficial as it will help develop non-developed countries. Globalization has the potential to make the world a better place to live and solve some very long standing problems like unemployment and poverty, which will have a positive impact in the future. Other than having one world government, which I think would have a negative impact in the future, I think globalization will have a positive impact in the future, if it will increase wealth, decrease poverty and allows cultures to blend without each country losing their own cultures.
Finally, everything in the world has a positive side and a negative side and globalization is one of them. It is up to us the people of the world to maximize the positive aspect of globalization and minimize its negative aspect.
Humans have become a threat to our own way of life by consuming more resources than needed, blind to the consequences that we may face in the future. As of 2016 the world population is at 7.4 billion and it is estimated to be at 11.2 billion by the year 2100. However 10 billion is the maximum population that can be sustained in terms of food security, only one of the many factors to global sustainability. Due to the fact that human consumption exceeds the amount of resources available, the United Nations “recognizes that eradicating poverty is the greatest global challenge” in A/RES/70/1. Sustainable development is not only required to fulfill the necessities of the present but to guarantee the capability for future generations to satisfy theirs.
One of the most evident problems associated to the environment is the issue of the logging of trees, mainly in undisturbed places such as the Amazon basin. Trees are considered the lungs of the Earth. They recycle all the polluting carbon in the air and return oxygen back into our atmosphere, creating a stable cycle of carbon in our atmosphere. However, the impeccable rates which trees are being cut down in our forests have grown to ever increasing and alarming rates. Trees that are made way for farming are burnt up releasing deadly amounts of carbon and thus leading to the problem of global warming. As its names suggest the world is slowly warming up and without any notice the environment which God has gave us will be slowly eradicated. The daily lives which humans carry on about every day are also a factor influencing on our environment and global warming. By driving cars that have a thirst for petrol we are releasing carbon dioxide and furthermore impacting on the world?s climate. In Australia environmental impact has always been evident. Land clearing especially in places such as Queensland has caused land to lay dry and lifeless where all forms of life is destroyed. By clearing land we are not only affecting our climate but are also destroying animal habitat and the usage of the land. Senseless actions by commuters in Australia, emitting tons and tons of lethal gases vulnerable to the atmosphere are starting to take its toll on our climate. We are seeing a harsher climate and at the same time less rain. If we want to preserve our world we must take a stance on this issue and take action for what is right, not carrying on the actions that will lead to a desolate, destroyed Earth.
The United Nations recently published a list of goals they hope to accomplish by 2030 called the Sustainable Development Goals. These goals will replace the Millennium Development Goals, which were set in 2000, when they expire at the end of 2015. Some of these goals include ending poverty, promoting gender equality, and improving water and sanitation conditions. Arguably, the most important goal is to “end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture” (in text citation- NY Times Article). Hunger was also an important goal on the MDG list, yet it was not fully accomplished (in text citation- Progress chart). The goals was to reduce hunger by half, and yet, the number of people who go to bed hungry
