Voting is something everyone has the right to do. Fighting for that right is not something that Susan B. Anthony or Emmeline Pankhurst should have done. Voting is a basic right that everyone should have, no matter their race or gender. While reading the passage, it is clear both women wrote about the effectiveness of why women have the right to vote. Reading from both prompts, they both convey strong emotional and logical statements. In Anthony's story she talks about how she voted even though she did not have the right to, she went no and says she did not commit any crime, but she just exercised her right. Pankhurst talks about her time as a soldier and talks about the difficulties she had during that time. Both Anthony and Pankhurst’s talk about being treated differently than the men in the world. For instance, Anthony says, “That to secure these, governments are instituted among men deriving their just power from consent of the governed.” Pankhurst says,....” being a man, was justified in the adoption of the revolutionary methods.... but since I am a woman.” These …show more content…

In the text she says, " “We throw to the winds the old dogma that government can give rights.” This reveals that they have fought and fought to have rights even though they know the government can do so but they chose to ignore them and continue to push the women back. Pankhurst also talks about how she comes from a country, and they deny her everything, no matter what it was. She says, “I come from a country which professes to have representative institutions and yet denies me...” The quote states, how hard it was for women and how if she were a man they would see her as a human, not just an object. It also states they would understand her more and treat her with respect, but they do not see her as that.
