The city of Surrey, which is the second largest city by population and the third largest city by area in British Columbia. According to U.S. census 2016, the population of the city is 517,887 and the population is increasing as people from different parts of the world are willing to move to one of the most culturally diverse cities in Canada.
History
Centuries ago, Surrey was initially a residence of the Abolish Coast Salish people before it was incorporated as a municipality in 1879. The Salish people hunted, fished and farmed alongside the banks of river Fraser. During the 19th century, Fraser Gold Rush, European settlements dominated the region and the first hotel was built at Brownsville in 1861.

The first symbol of the city was a beaver sitting on the heading Surrey, British Columbia. In 1993, the city incorporated a new symbol using a coat of arms, which depicted sands of trees and building.
The first city hall was built in the year 1881 and the first school came into existence in 1882. The Pattullo Bridge was erected in 1937, which formed as the base for the expansion of the city. The Peach Arch is located on the border of U.S and Canada. The Peach Arch Park is a unique to British Columbia because of its mind-blowing architecture and beautiful lawns. In 1921, it was the first structure of its kind and it was built between the borders of Canada and U.S to mark the peace and love between these two countries. The park is a place for all kinds of outdoor activities and provides a walking and a picnicking place to the visitors.

According to statistics canada Toronto in 2001, around 70% of the buildings in the area are high rise rental apartments but during the industrial era (1940’s ) most were private homes. Immigrants from countries such as the Philippines , Vietnam , Tamil, Chinese , Tibetan , Caribbeans and Hungarian have occupied parkdale since the 1980’s to present leading to the construction of these apartments with high storeys as seen in the census done in 2001. With high number of immigrants in the area increasing,Parkdale area soon developed a bad reputation as a neighbourhood of poverty, crime , drugs and homelessness These reputations led to segregation of neighbourhoods where the rich separated themselves, this happened on the basis of both of income and ethnicity.These is currently mainly occupied by minorities.Looking at the statistics in 2001 the top ten ethnicity living in this area were all immigrants with 20% arriving in Canada between 1980-1991 and other 25% arriving by 1991-2000 according to Ontario immigration data. 51% of these immigrants were born outside canada. The Trans Canada Highway became a visible nationalistic figure that set apart Canada from other countries. The Trans Canada Highway was a significant structure built in 1949 through 1961 that emerged as a result of a newfound unity and nationalistic view in Canada. Although there were many different political, personal and economical standpoints on the building of the highway, the finalization of the construction of the highway brought a unique unity that could be appreciated by all Canadians.

This paper will discuss the many unique aspects of Oakland, California. Divided into five major parts, Oakland is a very diverse city. The five major parts include: Downtown Oakland which is located in the heart of the city, East Oakland which consists of the majority of the city, West Oakland, North Oakland, and the Oakland hills where the terrain is quite different from other parts of the city. While many may perceive the population to mainly consist of African Americans and Whites, there is a significant growing population of Latinos, and Asians. The topics covered in this paper will shed light on the city of Oakland itself, and discuss the unique city that it is. I will also give my personal experience and perception on the city, after living there for 16 years of my life.
St. Boniface, originally named Winfrith, was an extremely studious man, a converted monk, priest, missionary and finally martyr. Born in 672, near Exeter, England, St. Boniface at an early age developed a desire to follow the path of God and live a monastic life. Through non-stop prayer and religious practices, he tuned his mind and body to reach beyond the obstacles and enticements of everyday life at his young adult age. He was a major influence on society during his life and affected the lives and history of Germany permanently. Often called the “Apostle of Germany”, St. Boniface was a strong believer in the principles of the Church and truly wanted to open any pagan believers minds to the knowledgeable and rewarding path of the Christian life.
Quebec is a distinct society within Canada (Darkside). With its own civil code, language, and a single dominant faith (Roman Catholic), French Quebec is defiantly distinctive from the rest of Canada and many Quebecois are fighting to preserve that distinction (Darkside). Francophones of Quebec are fighting not only to preserve this distinction but also to be recognized as an entity separate from Canada with acknowledged cultural differences ranging not only from religion, but from ethnic roots which spread to linguistic differences as well. This desire to preserve their culture is what makes them a politically relevant example of a country pursuing nationalistic causes. We will explore the ethnic and linguistic traits and cultural events that inspire Quebecois nationalism.
In 2011, more than 200 ethnic origins were reported in the National Household Survey, and 13 of those different ethnic origins had surpasses the one million mark in Canada, thus showing much diversity, and with diversity comes benefits. A variety of ethnic restaurants, grocery stores and clothing stores add more “life” and brightness to communities and areas, which attracts more residents and tourists. Thus, benefiting society by attracting new residents and tourists, which also adds to the stability and strength of the community. Moreover, as Canadian schools develop a cross cultural learning, citizens learn about diversity and the world, which benefits overall understanding and their education. Another benefit of multiculturalism, is that as more immigrants settle, communities benefit from cultural celebrations and more diverse cultural music, arts and food, thus benefiting society socially. Continuing onward, as diverse people migrate to Canada, they bring along a desire for goods from their homes and original location markets and such, thus benefiting society by contributing to a 0.2 per-cent rise in the value imports, along with a more interesting and varied market overall. Many students will become intrigued from this place and will not want to leave. Having a field trip will be fun, and it will also be an educational field trip as well. The students will learn about the history of this caves, lakes, and possibly even how the park was first created! Many visitors of the park stated that the park was very adventures and that it can bring the wild out of you.

When you associate anything with New York City it is usually the extraordinary buildings that pierce the sky or the congested sidewalks with people desperate to shop in the famous stores in which celebrities dwell. Even with my short visit there I found myself lost within the Big Apple. The voices of the never-ending attractions call out and envelop you in their awe. The streets are filled with an atmosphere that is like a young child on a shopping spree in a candy store. Although your feet swelter from the continuous walking, you find yourself pressing on with the yearning to discover the 'New York Experience'.
