In 2012, The School board on of Chênes, in Quebec introduced a new course called Ethics and Religious Culture. The course introduced students to other faiths and tradition in modern society. Parents of the students felt the rights of their children and themselves were being infringed. The new course violates their Charter of Rights to Freedom of Religion and Conscience, as well as should be granted the right to have their kids removed from the class. Given this circumstance, I believe that civilians have the right to freedom of Religion, of their own choosing, because religion should be separate from government since, their role is to protect people and property. In my work The Two Treaties of Government, I placed a great emphasis on property and government. I believe that citizens of the state should have the freedom to practise their choice of religion. As, I have previously distinguished the separation of religion from the government in my document, A letter Concerning Toleration, 1685. First, the beginning of the document focuses on the liberty, freedom, and concept of property citizens are entitled to. Therefore, I believe every man should be entitled his own land, and the profits of his or hers own labour.
