From the ability to recognize the caller, time taken to answer the phone, ability to dial numbers, and the presence of tremors. These calls can provide indicators of conditions like dementia and even arthritis. For the future of healthcare, Dishman sees a healthcare system where technology can be more accurate and precise in the aspects of monitoring and interventions, leading to better control over certain conditions and improved quality of life for the aging population. Dishman discusses how he sees a disconnect in the current health reform affects, which focus primarily on payment, then altering care delivery. He describes the current system as “main-frame poisoning” (Dishman, 2009) where healthcare is reactive and crisis-driven. From a survey conducted by Intel, it showed that a vast majority of people associate healthcare with doctors, hospitals and illness, showing how we need to shift our mindset.
