Have you ever heard of an eleven year old that acts like a three year old? There is a book called,“Eleven” By Sandra Cisnero is a book about a little girl named Rachel who just turned eleven, Rachel starts off having a bad day on her birthday. Throughout the story, Rachel shows multiple years of age and waves of maturity. It all happens because Rachel's teacher, Ms.Price, says that a sweater belongs to Rachel when really it doesn’t. Rachel takes it to a whole new level and so does Ms.Price, Ms.Price makes Rachel put the sweater and then Rachel cries. Rachel is childish because she cried over a sweater. Ms.Price and some classmates thought that a sweater from the lost and found was Rachels. Rachel shows her childishness when she says/does, “That’s when everything I’ve been holding in since this morning, since when Mrs. Price put the sweater on my desk, finally lets go, and all of a sudden I’m crying in front of everybody. “ (Cisnero.2) She is childish because she was crying. Rachel also shows signs of childness when she puts on the sweater. “I put one arm through one sleeve of the sweater that smells like cottage cheese, and then the other arm through the other and stand there with my arms apart like if the sweater hurts me and it does, all itchy and full of germs that aren’t mine”.(Cisnero.2) …show more content…

For example rachel says,” what they never tell you is that when you’re eleven,you’re also ten, and nine, and eight, and seven, and six, and five, and four, and three, and two, and one.” (Cisnero. 1) Rachel is adult like when she says this because a little kid would not think of this. They would just want to eat cake and open presents. Most people would have not thought about being many ages at once, but once Rachel said that in this short story people saw her mature
