In the story “Lusus Naturae” by Margaret Atwood, organic unity is achieved through the actions surrounded and directed towards the main character. The narrator desire for intimate human interaction begins when her father begins distancing himself from her. She thinks, “I no longer nestled into the crook of his arm, however. Though this enforced distance pained me, I could see his point.” The narrator seems disappointed when her father begins distancing from her. Before the narrator strayed away from being normal, her mother would brush her hair and her father would sit with her while he taught her to read, but they no longer wished to be around her.
