Becoming the Dragon by Alex Sapegin is the first book in a five book series titled the Dragon Inside. The genre is fantasy and adventure which is my favorite genre to read when I need to escape and immerse myself in a story. I have always loved stories with dragons. The Hobbit and Eragon were some of my favorites growing up, so I was excited to read this book. Andy is a young boy who gets teleported to the magical planet of Ilanta in a science experiment gone wrong. In this world both humans and supernatural creatures coexist. Andy must try to survive in this strange land while practicing his magical powers that have always been waiting to be set free. He is captured and sold into slavery when he arrives in Illanta. He managed to release a dragon, Karegar, who sets him free and becomes his mentor. Throughout the story he goes on quests and adventures with other magical creatures, such as dragons and orcs. When Andy is wounded he decides to go through an ancient ritual that will transform him into a dragon, hence the title, Becoming the Dragon. …show more content…
This book is classified under the Young Adult and Fantasy genres. I recommend it for fans of fantasy series’ and those who love stories with dragons, such as myself. The story was very enjoyable, though predicable at times. It’s a classic fantasy story so it has magic, adventure, frienship, quests and good vs evil which are the main elements of this genre. Its more suitable for those 10 years old and
Carole Wilkinson’s Dragonkeeper impressed me with its writing style and incredible settings. She uses very rich vocabularies and analogies which help to imagine the towns, villages, and environment of old China. In addition, there were hidden settings and these become apparent at the end of the story. When I found out the hidden settings, I recognized the characters’ unusual behaviors. Ping who is the protagonist of this book learns a lot of important things with her friends while their thrilling and wonderful journey
...ersonally, I fell in love with the book. Ray Bradbury has a more unique style in writing than most authors. I believe it is a very appropriate book for high school and I would recommend it to everyone. I think anyone and everyone can connect someway to the main themes of the novel. Everyone has or will undergo a stage in life where they don’t feel accepted. Then it is up to that person to chose how they decided to take it. In the book some characters decided to fight the evil and found themselves doing so. People get so caught up in what people think when really they should just accept themselves, “Accept everything about yourself -- I mean everything, you are you and that is the beginning and the end -- no apologies, no regrets” (Clark Moustakas). This book could show that no matter the age or who you are anything is possible and not even the sky is the limit.
Dr. Luther King Jr stated,“This is the most important and crucial period in your lives, for what you do now and what you decide not at this age may well determine which way your life shall go.” In the satirical fairy tale Dealing with dragons, written by Patricia Wrede Cimorene, the princess of Linderwall is a great example for this quote because she goes on crazy adventures. Cimorene was justified in showing apathy toward the expected social norms of her day because she helped save the dragons, escaped a life she did not enjoy, and she was able to avoid marrying someone she did not love.

Altogether, this is a book to be read thoughtfully and more than once. It is about an unusually sensitive and intelligent boy; but, then, are not all boys unusual and worthy of understanding? If they are bewildered at the complexity of modern life, unsure of themselves, shocked by the spectacle of perversity and evil around them - are not adults equally shocked by the knowledge that even children cannot escape this contact and awareness? & nbsp;
I thought this was a really splendid book . This story is about a boy, named Rafe Khatchadorian who just wants to have fun with his 6th grade year. He really dislikes school and devises a plan to make the school year as amusing for himself as possible. His plan he devised , with his imaginary named leo, is that he will try and make into a game by trying to break every rule in the rule book and depending on how intense/ hard the rule is to break he will get more or less points, and he has a goal of points he is trying to get by the end of the year that leo makes up. He can also get special points from stuff that happens throughout the year. This book had me hooked from the beginning, because at some points it was intense and at other points it was kind of serious, so it was a good mix not to much action and not too much sadness. I also really like the author, James Patterson. He has many other works including Wizard and Witch, Along Came a Spider, and many more.
In the novel, The White Tiger, by Aravind Adiga the main character, is Balram, one of the children in the “darkness” of India. Adiga sheds a new light on the poor of India, by writing from the point of view of a man who was at one time in the “darkness” or the slums of India and came into the “light” or rich point of view in India. Balram’s job as a driver allows him to see both sides of the poverty line in India. He sees that the poor are used and thrown away, while the rich are well off and have no understanding of the problems the poor people must face. The servants are kept in a mental “Rooster Coop” by their masters. The government in India supposedly tries to help the poor, but if there is one thing Adiga proves in The White Tiger, it is that India’s government is corrupted. Despite the government promises in India designed to satisfy the poor, the extreme differences between the rich and the poor and the idea of the Rooster Coop cause the poor of India to remain in the slums.
The dragon is one of the four divine beasts from Japanese mythology (the other three being the kirin, phoenix, and turtle). It is frequently the emblem of heroes and emperors.
...rstanding it. He goes on to describe about how the author tells of the dragon, and he shows great enthusiasm and excitement about the way the author chose to do so.
I would recommend this book to all toddlers. Toddlers would enjoy this story because there are amazing pictures to look at and a good story to hear. The parents who read the book to there little boys and girls would also be able to share a good message with their little ones. The message being that they can do anything they if they try in there own special way. Little boys and girls would enjoy this book.
Although, because he is seen as an enemy of humans, it causes him to be scared of how people will treat him. This relates to the topic, because when humans go out and hunt predators, they do so without seeing whether or not the dragon is worthy of life. Dragon, believes that because he is so kind, he will be spared the cruel justice of humans. It is because of the selfish decisions of humans, that innocent beings get hunted.
