Strikes of the 70's and 80's: The Invisible Role of Women
Throughout history women have slowly moved from the role of mother and housewife into the labor force. In the middle of this rise in stature is a relatively unknown set of events that helped women gain the self-respect and individual attitude needed to move up in the work force. Women's participation in strikes during the 1970's and 80's is relatively unknown in U.S. history. Although the women involved in these strikes made a big impact on the strike and its outcome, they go widely unrecognized and uncredited for their roles. This paper will focus on three strikes: the Brookside Coal Strike, the Phelps-Dodge Copper Strike, and the Pittston Coal Strike. Each of these strikes has its own individual history and story, but they have many things in common as well. Most importantly, each strike had women participants who greatly impacted the strike and did a small part to help women move towards a place in the labor force.
Each of the three strikes will be examined from the standpoint of five main factors. First, what were the roles of women in the strike? What kind of work were they involved in? Second, what interest did the women have in the strike? Third, what kind of relationship did the union have with the women? Did it impair their efforts or support them? Fourth, how did the women ultimately impact the strike? Were they seen as a positive influence? In addition, were they seen as positive by the media or ignored by them? And lastly, what happened after the strike? Did the women continue their new, politically active roles or did they go back to the lives they lived before the strike? Each of these questions will be addressed for each of the three strikes discussed...

In the book “The Triangle Fire: A Brief History with Documents” by Jo Ann E. Argersinger. In a short summary this book talks about the tragic factory fire that took lives of 146 workers in New York City, March 25, 1911. The tragedy happened during the great uprising of a women revolution, of many young females going to work to support their families. During this period many women wanted to be treated and work like how men worked. Having equal rights at jobs that were a risk to them, nothing stopped the uprising, until the fire became a change. Both sympathy and rage among all sectors of the American public got up to fight for a change. Argersinger examines in the context, trajectory, and impact of this Progressive Era event. During the Progressive Era, many big changes were being

Every morning, six days a week, hundreds of thousands of people, the majority of them women, crowded the streets of NYC on the way to work in the city’s factories. Many of these workers were immigrants who left their country in hope for a better future in America. During this time, men were superior to women, resulting in more women employment in garment factories because they required less pay, and men did not expect women to rebel against them. These ladies
Even during the ancient times, Star Anise Essential Oil was already commended for its multi-purposeness. Not only was it used as a way to spice up or add flavor to the food, but, also, it was used as a way to treat insect bites, insomnia even. Now, it is proven to have had a lot more uses, from being an antiseptic and decongestant to a mouth freshener, surely, it is more beneficial than it seems to be.
Nerolina essential oil is used in vapor therapy for the treatment of stress, mental fatigue, and to clear a room of bad smells. It is also effective in the treatment of respiratory issues.

It should go without saying that we should be careful with how use essential oils. Just like you wouldn’t give someone over the counter drugs without properly reading the label and considering the risks, you should do the same with essential oils. Essential oils are potent and powerful substances that can cause burns when used improperly on the skin and internal issues when misused internally.

The women were supervised by a factory foreman, who acted as an intermediary between the girls and management. The foreman was notorious for his poor handling of the workers. The women were told ‘never mind your fingers’ when operating the machinery. This on various occasions led to those who followed the foreman’s instructions losing a limb, and hereafter also without support. According to Annie Besant’s article, the foreman also was a man of ‘variable temper’, who delivered blows to the women when he was enraged. Poor conditions can be evidenced further from The Bitter Cry of Outcast London, which exposed children as young as twelve working for the factory; some being solely responsible for their own wellbeing. The women demanded that all future complaints should be taken straight to the management without having to involve the foremen who had prevented the management from knowing of previous disputes. A demand which Bryant and May reluctantly conceded to, stating that they had continually been ready to give their ‘most careful attention to any complaints’ that were brought to their attention. It is evidenced here that the match strikes were successful for the women involved, that Bryant and May submitted to their demands and officially took on theirs concerns shows us the positive effect of the match
Although herbs and spices have traditionally been used in cooking, as they add varieties of flavor to our food, these herbs and spices have also been known to many cultures for their medicinal properties and miscellaneous uses. The oils extracted from these spices and herbs are found to be effective in killing bacteria and viruses.
These oils, referred to as essential oils, are the basic materials used in aromatherapy and are taken from parts of the plant such as the root, stalk, flowers, leaves, bark, or rind. "Each type of essential oil has a different chemical composition that affects how it smells, how it is absorbed, and how it is used by the body" (NIH). Once the plants oils are extracted, they may either be distilled with steam and/or water or mechanically pressed. Oils that are made from chemical processes are not considered to be pure essential oils and therefore their benefits will not be the same as using a pure essential oil. Pure essential oils are extremely concentrated. For instance, according to AuraCacia, a main distributor of pure essential oils, "It takes 150 pounds of lavender flowers to produce just one pound of lavender essential

Aromatherapy literally means treatment with scent. The extracted aromatic oil from a plant is called essential oil. Buckle states that aromatherapists assert essential oil, not synthetic fragrance is needed to benefit from aromatherapy (2002). Synthetic fragrance is more likely to cause allergic symptoms and not produce beneficial results. Essential oils are highly concentrated, complex compounds that can stand up to lab evaluation. They are primarily sold through direct sales due to the need for the consumer learn about the product. In 2015, the estimated global market for essential
