A story must have a strong plot in order to make it interesting to the readers. The plot is chain of events that make up a story. It draws a reader into the story, causing them to get hooked. Readers will recognize that the five elements of plot are essential to a good story. The elements that make up the plot are exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.
The exposition begins the story by introducing the background of the story. This is where the reader learns about the characters and is introduced to the setting and the situation. An interesting story will have relatable and well likable characters. If the characters are not well developed, readers may find it harder to relate to a story. The setting is important because it is where the story takes place. This is necessary to know because sometimes it may help the story make more sense. After the exposition, the story will have rising action which draws a reader deeper into the story. The rising action consists of all the events that will lead up to the conflict. Sometimes, readers may be given hints that a problem is about to be presented later in the story. This is often called foreshadowing.
