There are many Global issues that go unnoticed or happen constantly in societies. One of which is discrimination. Discrimination is when a person or group of individuals of a certain culture, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation are denied access to something or opportunities. A lot of people discriminate because of the stereotypes that they grew up on. Stereotypes run in many cultures throughout the world and have been an ongoing issue for years. Each stereotype is based on differences that a person may see in someone else that they may not see in their selves, they can positive or negative.

All these examples are what people commonly judge on. People discriminate because of the fear of someone being different than them. Usually when a person fearful they turn to anger as a defense mechanism to help cope with their fear. Also, many people want to show that they are stronger or have more power than someone else. Since discrimination is such a big issue in our society, we need to bring awareness to the problem, so people can be aware of the harm they are causing others. If we bring awareness to the public and spread knowledge to the world on the differences others may fear, this may help relieve discrimination. That means people will have the knowledge they never knew about other people who are different than them. Since people would have knowledge instead of terrible stereotypes, they have nothing to fear. Vivienne Ming once said, “Discrimination is not done by villains. It’s done by us.” Many do not recognize or acknowledge discrimination. Most of the time, individuals allow discrimination to be classified as bullying. However, true discrimination is real. It comes in various forms and it is the population’s job to be familiar with it and use that knowledge to destroy it. Racial, appearance-based, sexual, and religious discrimination all hugely affect friendships/relationships, the workplace, and society as a whole.
Many people know what prejudice and discrimination are, but some of us do not. Prejudice is known as the attitude which includes behavioral, cognitive and affective. This attitude is incorrect and is not justified because it usually deals with negative thoughts of a person. These thoughts can be based on any reasons, for example, it could be because of their social class, race, gender, sexuality, or anything else. Discriminitation on the other hand, is very similar, but involves taking action because of those thoughts. There have been many different types of discrimination, but the main one's are racial, age, and gender discrimination.
Stereotypes can be defined as sweeping generalizations about members of a certain race, religion, gender, nationality, or other group. They are made everyday in almost every society. We develop stereotypes when we are unable or unwilling to obtain all the information we would need to make fair judgments about people or situations. By stereotyping, we assume that a person or group has certain characteristics. Quite often, we develop these ideas about people who are members of groups with which we have not had firsthand contact. Stereotyping usually leads to unfair results, such as discrimination, racial profiling, and unnecessary violence, all behaviors which need to be stopped.

The concept of stereotypes is what we have been created in our presumptions of a person without even having an idea of how they are. It is a common thing in our society on which sometimes it can create tolerance or intolerance toward other groups because of different ideas or traditions. The film by Gregory Nava My Family and the book by Victor Martinez Parrot in the Oven: Mi Vida are clear examples of the concept of stereotypes. Discrimination is known to exist in all workplaces, sometimes it is too subtle to notice, and other times it is exceedingly obvious. It is known that everyone subconsciously discriminates, dependant on their own beliefs and environments that surround them. However, discrimination can be either positive or negative in their results, and sometimes discrimination is a necessary part of life.
