Teenagers nowadays have the stress and pressure when it comes to their future. Often kids are afraid to grow up. Then given the choice, teens are not always aware of all the options. One way to help is when children or teens are growing up, have the child introduced to different fields. Frequently when asked what a teenage wants to pursue, one will find the teen has absolutely no idea. However, for me, this is not the case. It may be the events of my childhood that have helped me gain an interest. Since I was a little kid, I have wanted to become a nurse. For this paper that career was my first option. I did research and found a different career that spoke to me more than a Registered Nurse did. I found an occupation along the Nursing lines, but O felt worked better with what I want. I found a PA.
What does PA stand for? What does a PA do? PA

stands for Physician Assistant. PAs practice medicines with physicians and other healthcare workers. “PAs were delegated medical responsibilities in line with their experience, assessing, diagnosing, and treating within a primary care setting”(Dehn 49). A benefiting factor of choosing a career is the work environment.
What is the work environment like for a PA? Well, the answer is- it depends on where you work. A physician assistant can work at physicians' offices, hospitals, clinics, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), prisons, colleges, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers (“Physician Assistant”). Most people they want to know the type of schedule about their ‘dream’ career. 4/5th of PAs work full time while the other 1/5th work part. One thing to keep in mind is that where one works it will create a schedule. Meaning, for example, let’s say I work at a hospital and it is common to work over the weekend, nights, or holidays. I might even have to work on call. Schedules vary for different places.
All physician assistants will have to get a PA-C license. (Physician Assistant Certification). According to the Fergusons’ Career Guidance Center, the salary ranges from $44,000-$125,000 depending on which state someone lives is in (Fields). The success of attaining a career in this area is high, especially in since this employment is estimated to grow 30% by the year
2024. How does a person know if they have what it takes? One quality would be communication skills. As a PA, one has to be able to talk to physicians or other medical staff easily. More importantly, a PA has to be able to explain problems to patients in terms they would understand. Another quality is compassion. Compassion is important because someone with this characteristic can often connect with the emotional side of this job. Other important skills are being detail orientated (this comes handy when looking at labs or any results), emotional stability, (if someone can’t handle sadness or even blood then this is not the job for them), and also problem-solving skills (“Physician Assistant”).
As a second year Pathologists’ Assistant student at Indiana University School of Medicine, I am writing to express my interest in the Pathologists’ Assistant position. I believe that this position is ideal for me because my internship at Montefiore was the first step in me become a Pathologists’ Assistant. Through this internship, I was able to obtain the knowledge on how to become a PA, what a PA does, and it solidified any question on whether I wanted to be a PA.
Physician assistants (PA's) practice medicine under the supervision of physicians and surgeons. PA's are trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services, as delegated by a physician. They work with members of a healthcare team, they take medical histories, examine and treat patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x rays, and make diagnoses. PAs may be the principal care providers in rural or inner city clinics where a physician is present for only one or two days each week. In such cases, the PA confers with the supervising physician and other medical professionals as
Depending on your state’s laws and/or regulations, medical assistants are typically allowed to perform the following clinical services under the supervision of a physician or other healthcare provider, like a physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP):
The physician assistant is a team player in the medical world, working daily with surgeons, physicians, therapists, and many other health care professionals. Similar to the job description of physicians, PAs see patients, take medical histories, preform physical exams, make diagnoses, order and interpret tests, and develop treatment plans (Ludwig). A physician assistant, nowadays, may even perform procedures that were once performed exclusively by physicians. Because every PA must have a supervising physician who oversees their work, it is assumed by many that PAs are “assistants to doctors”, however, that is not the case because a vast majority of PAs work independently. The extent of supervision by a physician varies depending on location and branch of medicine. Although, a physician assistant may carry out much of the same roles as a physician would, the amount of schooling required to become a PA is nearly half as many as that of a physician. Physician assistant programs nationwide require an undergraduate degree in one of many sciences, such as biology, and certain
Moreover, as a physician assistant, my duties and responsibilities would include various tasks. I would examine patients and review patients’ medical history. I would perform diagnostic tests and diagnose a patient’s injury. I would provide treatment and console patients’ on the proper treatment. Lastly, I would assess
I believe that people everywhere should always have access to adequate medical care. Where you live should not determine whether you live, and the PA profession was created to improve the availability of healthcare in rural and other underserved areas. As a PA, I would be eager to help people have not had access to the care they needed. I want to serve those that need medical attention but don’t have the means to obtain it—whether in rural Michigan, the inner-city of Atlanta, or the backwoods of Arkansas. Making great medical care accessible to all is crucial to improving public health, and it is a necessity across this country and the world. As a physician assistant,
Physical Therapists assistant may also involve answering phones , writing out insurance paperwork , getting supplies, all work checked by a licensed physical
Ever since I was a little girl, my motivation to pursue a career in the medical field was evident. While other children my age watched Cartoon Network, I found more value in shows like ‘Trauma: Life in the ER’ and ‘A Baby Story.’ It wasn’t until high school that I decided I would become a nurse, specifically. I cannot say that I had a revelation or a particular experience that swayed my decision. However, ever since I began pursuing the career of nursing, I discover each and every subsequent day that it is what I was put on this earth to do.
Any job in the medical field is great, because it will always be needed no matter what. Doctors, nurses, techs, etc. are all very important and necessary people, but the people behind the scenes are just as important, medical administrative assistants. Being a medical administrative assistant seems awfully difficult, you have all these responsibilities but at the end of the day you’ll have a sense of satisfaction because you may have possibly really helped a patient or family with a serious and hard situation. There are different types or categories of medical administrative assistants, you have the front office, the back office, the clinic setting, private practices, and the floating position. Duties for
Nursing has always been a key career in the health care system. Although it is not often focused on in media and stories surrounding health care, nursing is a career of great importance. If any patient was asked about their experience at a hospital or a care center, many will mention the capability and care that they received from the nurses. The health care system could not function efficiently, if at all, if nurses were not present to perform their part. Nurses are more than just physicians support staff. Of interest in this paper is why people choose to study nursing in university or college. From students just graduating high school to mature student who have prior degrees or education, nursing is a popular choice as a path to study
One of my favorite quotes is by Steve Jobs, states, "Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow know what you truly want to become." This quote is exactly what I am doing today by submitting my application to the Dental Hygiene program. I am taking years of training, success, and failure and focusing them all in one direction on obtaining my deepest desire. Over the last fourteen years, I've had plenty of time to develop myself and gain a full understanding of what I want to do with my life. I've come to not only love and appreciate every experience I've had in the medical field, but also aspire to grow and embrace the new challenge. Working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient surgery clinic I learnt that I excel most when I'm working directly with patients, in a hands-on environment. I also found out that I'm extremely passionate about educating people, especially mothers; because I believe mothers play a key role in teaching the next generation about how to develop healthy lifestyle habits.
My willingness to cross-train, participate in all possible continuing education, paired with my many years of customer service/patient care, will prove to serve your practice.

It’s been my desire, longing for a nursing career since I was in my primary and secondary school. At the age of 12, I began to look after children and baby-sitting then, from there, I gained the understanding of how to deal with children. Nursing is one of the highly demanding careers that bring new challenges every day and it comes with various rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. I chose nursing because it is a profession where you never really finish learning. It has been my dream job since my tender age. Seeing nurses visiting my school treating students, immunisation, teaching us about health and sexual health issues, this encouraged me. My goal and desire at that age have been to help people within the Health sector. That is how; I decided to go to college where I am currently doing my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science), which involves Biology and Chemistry. I chose this pathway because I want to gain the relevant skills and knowledge of my career to be. As someone who wants to become a nurse, I found biology as an important role in the delivery of client car...
