Starting and Running a Business
Despite being an intimidating prospect for most people, there are millions of entrepreneurs in the US. Some of them turn out to be very successful, others, not so much. There are many steps to starting and running a business, but many of them can be easily accomplished simply by filling out some forms, and several small fees.
Businesses have been around since the beginning of bartering, an apple for some wheat, a horse for a wife, a daughter for a house. (In no way reflecting what I would trade) The startups of businesses across time have never come easy, from cost, to hassle, to threat of beheading; there have always been obstacles in starting a business.
One of the hardest parts of being an entrepreneur is starting up. This includes getting funding, filing for all necessary permits, and finding a building to host the business. Many business owners rent or lease, but some choose to actually buy a location.
The permits needed to start a business vary from state to state, city to city, and year to year. The type of business also affects what permits you need. For example, to start an online business, you would not have to get a building, and also file for fewer permits than a restaurant would have to. Restaurants have to get all the permits any other business does, and they have to get permits from the health department and be inspected regularly.
Sometimes the cost of startup is too great for some entrepreneurs and the business goes bankrupt. This is one reason you should file for a complete business license. If you aren’t properly licensed as a company, if you go bankrupt the banks can come after you and what you own. If you are approved as a LLC (Limited Liability Company) or LLP (Limit...

On John Stossel’s Fox News Hour, War on the Little Guy he addresses the rules and regulations that small businesses must follow to continue operation. Many regulations mentioned are small and can be easily fixed, others such as having to have a license to give segaway tours, cost a lot and are difficult to resolve. Washington D.C based “Segs in the City” is a segaway company who provides tours of downtown D.C for a cost. Many of their tour guides are fabulous, but do not have a license, which is required by the government because of privacy issues. The obtaining of the license cost upwards of 200 dollars and can be a rigorous process, like Ashley Krapacs experienced. Even though it is a difficult thing to go through, it is beneficial to obtain a license because giving a tour of the nation’s capital is not something everyone meets the requirements for, and having honest and trustworthy employees is a must.

Starting a small business is often one of the hardest things a person can do. Some people start a business out of pure fascination, or even as a hobby. Whether starting a business for personal reasons or simply the grandeur to make loads of money, everybody needs to have a plan. Starting a small business is no easy task and can take days if not months to prepare. The most important aspect to have is the tempura and heart to start a small business, as without passion, no business can succeed. One has to be his or her own boss, make dream, reality and be willing to market and sell a product. It takes a lot of discipline, long hours and hard work, something many do not have. However with the right willingness, passion and dedication a business can be the start of something big.
For some people, being the boss, and which by boss I mean business owner, would be the greatest thing ever. Most think you get to pick your own hours, make the most money, and make everyone do the things you want done. Of course there is work involved and it takes work to make it but the rewards will be better owning a business that succeeds. The ultimate goal is becoming a millionaire and retiring at the age of forty and just drawing money from business production. However they really don’t understand the work it takes to make it a million dollar company. When these people are finally able to own a business they get a rude awakening. I am in no way trying to offend the typical business owner when I say, owning a business can be a challenging task that can cause many complications in your life and if you’re not careful they can change your life entirely.
Starting your own business can be exciting and it can become a well- rewarded experience. Being your own business includes great benefits, create your
