St. Michael
Michael is first introduced to mankind through the scriptures written in the Bible. In the book of Daniel, Michael is introduced as one of the "chief princes" of Heaven as well as the guardian of the people of Israel (Daniel 10:13). His name is translated to mean "Who is like unto God," and he is one of the seven archangels of Heaven who is mentioned in the Bible, in both the Old and New Testaments.
According to Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Anthroposophy and author of the book, The Archangel Michael: His Mission and Ours, Michael was the cosmic being in charge of Intelligence, whereas Michael is associated with light in other circles. This association works itself into a theory that Steiner explains in his book in a chapter titled, Michael, Arthur, and the Grail. In this theory, he proposes that Michael and his hosts of angels that accompany him are all inhabitants of the sun, and that from there, Michael was the ruler of "cosmic intelligence" (Steiner 271), and therefore the provider of all of the thoughts that humans experienced. This intelligence came down upon them from the sun, which he supports with the acceptance that we think with our heads since that is where the intelligence reaches first.
And in the time of Alexander and Aristotle when human beings were aware of thoughts - - that is to say, of the content of Intelligence within them --
they did not regard these thoughts as their own, self-made thought: they felt that
the thoughts were revealed to them through the power of Michael,
although in that pagan era this Michael Being was known by a different name (272).
By approximately the 9th century A.D., however, it seemed that human beings were beginning to see their own personal intelligence so that Michael was no longer the bearer of this gift. Now intelligence came from the earth and its inhabitants rather than the sun. But Michael and his hosts have been working to regain his administration of this intelligence by moving "in and through the hearts of human beings (274)." Steiner says that in earlier times than these we live in, people strove for intelligence not by developing their minds, but by seeking out inspirations given to them by cosmic forces, and his example of this is King Arthur.
ZEDEKIAH (m) "justice of the Lord" (Hebrew). The name of several characters in the Bible.
Alfred Hitchcock developed his signature style from his earlier works The Lodger and Blackmail. These films were the framework for his signature films later on. His themes of “an innocent man who is accused of a crime” and “the guilty woman” were first seen in these two films and are repeated throughout Hitchcock’s cinematic history
In nearly all of Hitchcock’s films, behind many male characters lies a strong mother figure. In keeping with Freudian psychology, the mother plays an important role in our understanding of the characters. During his career, Hitchcock’s own mother had passed away and many critics speculate that he crafted these mothers to express those repressed emotions. Three films with particularly interesting mother characters include Notorious, Pyscho, and The Birds. Each have a very unique backstory but remain a central part of the movie’s storyline and our understanding of the son. In Notorious, Madame Sebastian is a vicious and controlling mother figure. Pyscho features a mother that controls half of Norman’s mind, and The Birds displays a mother with
In Psycho, Marion Crane’s death occurs in a series of back and forth shots between Crane and Norman Bates. When Bates pulls back the shower curtain, Crane screams in utter horror, her eyes wide and her skin glistening from the shower water. The shot cuts back to Bates raising his knife and stabbing Crane, then cuts back to Crane writhing in pain and screaming, and finally cuts back to Bates raising his knife, ready to strike again. This goes on for several minutes as Bates stabs Crane seven more times. The succession of quick cuts shows exactly what Crane felt at the time of her death, just like any person would – alone, terrified, and in immense pain. The montage of her being stabbed over and over again is seemingly endless and almost repetitive just as how it must have seemed to Crane. Moreover, the brief glimpses of a dark, looming figure wielding a knife make the situation even more hopeless and tragic because Crane couldn’t even clearly see who killed her. Hitchcock’s choice to edit this scene as a montage allows Crane to be seen at her most vulnerable state and as a quite pitiful character who lost her life by picking the wrong motel to stay overnight, humanizing someone who had embezzled $40,000 from her employer. Of course embezzling money does not justify being murdered, but in reality, without
...ncept of being defined by their actions, Hitchcock shows the effect our actions have on our perception and on others around us. This concept added to the film allows the audience to think about how they are living their lives and how we can positively change our perception.
thinking comes from that and then in the long run more knowledge comes. It is a continuous cycle that never stops.
Late in the fifth century the son of a well-off family in Italy left for isolation on his mission to truly seek god. This man was St. Benedict, who is credited with the first establishment of the concept of withdrawing from all temptation for Christian beliefs in the west. St. Benedict left his home and went to the top of a mountain, where he established a monastic community. In this community the individuals who resided there, constantly reiterated their faith. They sacrificed whatever they may have had to prove their true commitment to God. This became an early ideal of Christianity, that one must suffer loss and sacrifice to prove their loyalty to the faith. It was believed in this time period that if one is content with only what they truly need one is freer to think about other people and to think about God . These individuals were called Regular Clergies (monks) and were considered heroes of the faith.

Paul had already preached to the Galatians once before and they took to his message quite well. Once Paul left, however, to preach somewhere else, the Galatians started to follow Jewish Christians that had a different gospel than Paul’s. This infuriates Paul and therefore writes a letter that concerns this problem. In Galatians chapters one and two Paul traces back the origins of his gospel to prove to the Galatians that his gospel is the one to follow, not the Jewish Christians who are trying to convert them to false claims and that believe that the Gentiles must be circumcised or else they will not be saved. Throughout Paul’s whole letter to the Galatians, he tries to prove to them that this is all false and by just having faith in G...

Alfred Hitchcock has always been one of my favorite directors ever since I was little. My dad got me into his films at a young age and part of our bonding time revolved around watching his movies, famous or not. Psycho is a film that has always been a classic to me and one of all-time favorite Hitchcock movies. Hitchcock films present a vast of information and can be dissected and written about all based on his remarkable techniques such as his character development and his ability to create suspense and keep the viewer’s guessing. Hitchcock would use underlying messages throughout his films that completely turned the normal to twisted by his plot development. Psycho does this through having the audience suspecting a particular characters
