I went to see the musical Spring Awakening on October 24, 2015 with my mom and my older sister. This musical was about teenagers that are discovering what it is like to be getting older and what falling in love really means. The reason that I chose this was because I am a teenager myself and I will be experiencing the problems of the real world, if not now, soon. Before I went to see the production, I was expecting it to be like most of the other musicals that I have seen, that just have songs and a basic plot line. However, the production certainly did exceed my expectations. After seeing the show, I felt as if it had actually impacted the way that I look at my future, in a good and bad way. In addition, I was not expecting it to be as outgoing as it was. Specifically, it taught me that you can find love even if you are still young and that as you get older life will get more complicated and you will have to overcome many challenges. Also, it proved to me that music can make an experience much more memorable, which is what this musical did. With no doubt, this musical was very worth doing because of the ways …show more content…
that it left a large impact on me. Throughout the musical, the ways that the lights and sound were used were very effective and efficient. In one scene, the way the lights are used are very effective because of the way that the music was played along with it. Specifically, it was a very dramatic scene with a lot of emotion, so the lights were flashing different colors which helped to express what the feelings were and the music was dramatically loud. While this scene was happening because of the lights and music, everyone in the audience could feel the emotions that were meant to be felt which was dramatic and a feeling that much of the audience could relate to. Certainly while watching this musical that was very powerful all of the scenes were terrific, but there was one that stood out the most to me.
Towards the beginning of the production, there is a scene when the teenage girl is speaking to her mother and tells her that she thinks about death sometimes. After she asks this question, her mother ignores her, but then the teenage girls begins to talk about how she is getting older and that she will fall in love adventually. Then, after she talked about these ideas to her mother a song begins which to me has a lot of emotion. The song talk about how her mother was the one that raised her and that she wants to know more about life and to not feel sheltered from the idea of reality. This stood out to me the most because I am a teenager and I am still learning everything about life and the way that reality
works. The way that many of the characters acted during the entire show and the transformation of the actors were very interesting to watch and one of them certainly was my favorite. At the beginning of the show the women who played the main character, Welda was a clueless young girl who did not really know a lot about the real world, but throughout the entire show the way that she kept me engaged was by strongly expressing her emotions through physical action and expressions. Since the theater in which I went to see the musical was performed at a theater for the deaf too, throughout the entire show the actors were signing in ASL. As the main character was performing she was signing which is what kept me engaged in her part the most. Certainly, after seeing this wonderful musical I believe that this show was worth the extraordinary experience of seeing the ways that young teenagers, like me, learn the challenges of life and discovering what love is and what it really means to fall in love. In the end, this show was definitely a big success because of how it sends a message to thousands of teenagers in this generation.
In addition, this musical either surprised or fascinated me. I was skeptical about going to this show because I 'm not into love movies. I assume this show would be the same. But I am glad that I was mistaken because the show was great. Seeing some of my favorite R&B artists acting was a pleasant surprise. I was blown away at how good these chart-topping singers performed as actors. The way in which the actors interact with one another and the countless hilarious
The Wiz is a musical/movie released in 1978 that was an adaptation of the popular film “Wizard of Oz”. It included several very popular stars of the time, which were Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Nipsey Russell. The movie set place in New York City where the main character, Dorothy, suddenly is swept by a tornado in the middle of a snowstorm. She later then found herself lost in a city she had no clue about and curious as to how she could return home. After meeting 3 other characters during her journey that share similarities, they all embarked on a trip to OZ to fix each of their problems. Throughout the movie characters apply their own soundtrack through singing songs in harmony that compliment the mood of each scene.
Concerning the genre spectrum, Big Fish and Cold Mountain are miles apart. The first is a magical assortment of reality and fantasy driven by a man running from a loved one; the second is a historical fiction propelled by a man seeking a loved one. In addition to the dramatic and thematic differences, the underscoring of both films is opposing in the methods used to achieve similar ends; namely, serving the five functions. Danny Elfman, the composer for this Tim Burton film, interlaced an intricate and organized underscoring for the film, forming a piece that rivals that of Edward Scissor Hands.

In essence, this song carries various sociological concepts. It concentrates on the main idea about the social construction of reality and talking about how reality is changing. The song questions the actions and mentally of individuals violating the norms and values of society. The band takes into consideration various factors of why it is happening including the media and religion. As a result they talk about such influences taking control building and developing a sense of self. This is a great song about present day problems and how society changes with them.
Even if I didn’t make it, I don’t think anyone realizes what you learn when training in this profession. Musical theatre has allowed me to step up, commit to my work, become more confident and to have fun! You learn to become focused and pay more attention to detail. Building sets, reading scenes and learning music betters your communication and listening skills. All of these skills I have acquired over the last few years and I they are still helping me to grow. I think my biggest take away from this past summer is to become more confident as a person and in my work. Confidence is a big part of doing musical theatre. Some people having no confidence or a little too much. Trying to gain confidence has made me appreciate my body, the little things and what I do. I have already had many people come up to me at school and tell me that they’re loving my new glow confidence and love for myself. Overall, I see why people doubt the career, but they only consider the outside results. Musical theatre has made me the person I am today and I will never forget
The immediate nostalgia of the classic 1969 musical, Hello, Dolly!, is combined unexpectedly with extensive beauty of space as WALL-E begins descending into an even more unexpected image of life on Earth.
North Central Texas College performed their version of the rock musical Spring Awakening. Their adaptation was based on the 1891 version of the play by Frank Wedekind. The modern version of the play is written in English is by Anya Reiss. The play basically expresses the challenges, troubles, and misfortune teenagers go through, but also the happiness, joy, and excitement. The play also shows that in the adolescent years, teenagers are still searching and learning about themselves and discover who they really want to be. It also shows teenagers exploring their sexuality. The play was very relatable especially to teens. The play was performed on March 1, 2014 at 7:30PM at the First Bank Center for Performing Arts in Gainesville. This report will concern four elements of the production. I will focus on the acting, scenic design, costume and make design, as well as the sound design.

Some of the song titles include “Take the Pain Away”, “Afraid”, and “Maybe Tomorrow”. I think that these songs further enhanced the messages that the movie is trying to portray. I think that pain, fear, and optimism are major themes within this movie.
The reason this song has such an inspiring effect on the listener is because of Lovato’s strong vocals, a result of her emotional attachment to what she is trying to express. She belts out her feelings, which draws the listener’s attention to the lyrics and creates a depressing but optimistic mood. Her voice represents her power and energy to rise and continue life
Music defines our culture. As Americans, we listen to music while we drive our cars, are at work, doing housework, studying, etc. We have songs for special occasions: Christmas, Hanukah, birthdays, weddings, parties, etc. We have taken songs from the various cultures that make us diverse: Arabic, German, Mexican, Native American, etc. We have many genres: country, hip-hop, rap, pop, blues, jazz, rock, heavy metal, etc. And although we may think of music as simple and easy, looking at all this makes one realize how diverse and complex our music truly is. Two things that contribute to this diversity are theme and symbolism.
This composition starts out on a very dark note. On the initial few notes, it sounds like it is enacting a depressing tale. One can imagine it to be like the soundtrack of a horror movie of current times. Nevertheless, as you progress through the track, it picks up its pace and also the mood of the track to that of a pleasant one. Further into the track the artist uses skilful note play with abrupt highs and lows. As the song proceeds one can feel the emotion the artist tries portraying with the
The Sound of Music is a most well- known musical movie from 1965, it was inspired by the story of Trapp Family, and the Sound of Music has rewritten by George Hurdalek which he only used the partial ideas by the biography and recreated a new romance story in 1939. There are many iconic clothes in this film. It might remind most of the people about the scene of Maria sew new outfits for Captain’s children, but I found Maria’s outfits are very interested when I looked soberly.
This song displays the relationship between a child and her family and the conflicts that occur during a separation. I feel that the author delivered the message with a pessimistic tone which left me feeling dismal. This song upsets me whenever I hear it. I get goosebumps when I listen to this song due to the connection I feel to its lyrics. The message that Pink relays through her music spoke to me on a level that other songs do not. The author wrote this song to portray her feeling of distress during her parents’ divorce. People see what they want to see, and hear what they want to hear. Nobody wants to know about the arguments and hardships that goes on behind closed doors. They want to see smiling faces, not broken hearts. People want to hear about the promotion you got at work, not about the grueling hours you spent instead of with your family. Society has a way of only seeing the good, and belittling the bad, but in reality, we only remember that time that mom and dad
