Islam is one of the largest religions in the world, with over 1.3 billion followers. Islam is a complete way of life that governs all facets of life: moral, spiritual, physical, intellectual, social, economical, etc. It is a monotheistic faith based on revelations received by 7th- century Saudi Arabia. The Arabic word Islam means “submission”, or “the surrendering of one’s will to the true will of god in an effort to achieve peace”. Followers of Islam are called Muslims.

Islam, has six articles of faith, These are the basic beliefs that one must have in order to be considered a true Muslim; one God (Allah), The angels of god, The book of god (Qur’an), The prophets of god, The day of judgement (afterlife), and the supremacy of god’s will (Predestination). …show more content…

Buddhism and islam are far apart religiously, but, in both religions they share a faith in their founder, believing that he has earned the authority to teach others about the most important things in life. The buddha was respected for his knowledge and achieving enlightenment, while muhammad was beloved because he was chosen by god to receive and interpret the Qu’ran. In difference, muslims shape their lives around god, praying to him, reading his words in the qu’ran and following his law in their daily lives. But, buddhists are unconcerned with the idea of a god. A muslim can pray to god and look for peace, a buddhist can only rely on himself, with the help of the teachings the buddha gave them. On the aspect of afterlife, a muslim's goal is to live on, but a buddhist is to stop the circle of life, muslims hope for a positive judgement from god before they die, and be rewarded access to heaven. The religion was born in Palestine 28-33 CE, in a small stretch of land on the eastern Mediterranean Sea, it was considered the jews “promise land”. Christianity began as a movement within Judaism, which they base their beliefs on the life, teachings, and death of Jesus Christ. Christians, just like muslims, believe in one God. Jesus christ is their “Messiah” or savior of the world, and the son of God. Christianity divides into three major branches, Roman catholicism, Eastern orthodoxy and Protestant. Roman Catholicism represents the continuation of the historical organized church in Western Europe, and is headed by the Pope. Beliefs of Catholics include the doctrines of Transubstantiation and Purgatory, and practices include devotion to the saints and Mary and use of the rosary. Eastern Orthodox is the continuation of the historical organized church in Eastern Europe. Protestantism arose in the 16th century, took place mainly in Germany, Switzerland, and Britain. Protestants do not acknowledge the authority of the Pope, reject many traditions and beliefs of the Catholic Church, emphasize the importance of reading the Bible and hold to the doctrine of salvation by faith alone.
