I believe we’re all on a journey, and by letting our spirituality envelop us we our able to find our purpose. A big prominent question I face in my life, and think about often is, if we learn about our spirituality are we able to begin a spiritual journey, and find our purpose?…… I have one answer… YES! The world has shown us that spirituality envelops us, and by learning it, and living by it we are able to discover our purpose, and accept our spiritual destiny. There are thousands of reasons why I believe by letting our spirituality envelop us we are able to find our purpose, and complete our destiny. One prominent example of this is a quote by River Phoenix “You feel the spirit move you. I can be possessed really well.” By …show more content…
The perfect example of this is Jacy Good. Jacy Good was a young individual who after college graduation had plans of working for habitat of humanity, and starting a family. Jacy’s whole world was turned around in an instant though, she lost her parents after they were driving her home from her college graduation when a teenager texting and driving turned left at a red light, causing a tractor trailer to swerve, and kill Jacy’s parents, and leaving her partially paralyzed with a tramatic brain injury. She had to relearn everything from walking to talking to reading & writing. Though, forever changed through one person’s fatal mistake Jacy has been able to find her purpose by sharing with others how texting & driving can be life or death. Jacy has a message for all of us “Steve and I have a wonderful life as public speakers, but we'd trade it in a second to just go back to "normal." I live in a new normal now. Maybe it's time for a change, because while my wreck might be just another set of numbers in some ledger, I sure don't feel like a statistic. I feel like a person whose life was permanently damaged by someone else's bad and preventable decision. I wonder how other statistics feel? Hang up and drive.”Although, Jacy has gone through a life altering tragedy she is able to save thousands of lives through her message, and in turn has found her purpose. An example of someone finding their spirituality, and purpose through religion is Mother Teresa. After Mother Teresa’s father died when she was 8 years old, she became extroidinarily close to her mother, who began to instill in her a deep commitment to charity. After, she made her first pilgrimage to the Church of Black Mountain in Lentice at age 12 she felt a religious calling, and began to commit to religious groups such as The Sisters Of Loreto. She is quoted in her Final Profession of Vows
In Jon Krakauer’s Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless gives up all his material possessions to seek fulfillment in the Alaskan Wilderness. In doing this, Chris is able to escape from his parents and live the life of many transcendentalists that he’s read about. As John Muir once said, “The mountains are calling and I must go.” Like John Muir, Chris has developed such a profound love for nature that he is called into the wild by it. Ultimately, Chris’s life decisions are a fascinating paradox that make him both a transcendentalist hero and a fool.
Religion is not just a collaboration of spiritual ideas and writings from ancient books. Religion has become more than just that within our modern society. Some have went as far as to say that religion is the ultimate drive; that guides our human emotions, our actions, and even to some our very own existence. Though religion can be considered a broad topic, there are rooted ideas and concepts that almost all spiritual beliefs entail. Any person with some religious drive will ultimately face their own inner resistance at one point or another, and will be forced to overcome the profane world in which they live to understand the more spiritual and sacred life they choose to lead. These revelations within ones spiritual journey allow personal transformations to occur; resulting in greater religious understandings within their own lives.
In this paper two topic from the Psychology and Spirituality course will be discussed in regards to spirituality and their influence on my personal life. I will examine how I have grown and what I have learned from the week on Spring Lake ranch and how I wish to continue moving forward in my attempt to be spiritual and build a closer relationship to God.
Spirituality refers to the perspective of that which is valued in life, and that which must to be upheld and defended under any and all circumstances, regardless of the social environment and surrounding conditions.
My spiritual wellness is what I believe in life. I believe in my religion which is Christianity and its beliefs. I keep myself motivated through faith by the morals and beliefs throughout the day. Spiritual wellness is your purpose in life and that is an important part that has to do with your
Melhem et al (2016) define spirituality as an “abstract, subjective, and complex term, whose definition varies between individuals, philosophies, and cultures” and has “many subjective meanings” (p.43). I have learned from many friends who view themselves as spiritual, but don’t follow any particular religion, that spiritualty has allowed them to find meaning and balance in their life. Many feel that all individuals have the capacity to be spiritual, but I haven’t felt the need to tune into this concept thus far in my life. I would tell you where I find meaning and balance in my life, but I don’t even fully know that answer myself. Spirituality is such a new concept for me, and I find it hard to wrap my head around the ways in which I may be able to view or understand it. Therefore, it is something I hope to explore as I mature and continue to understand who I am as a person in this
Spiritual formation is a process that morphs as we grow and change. There is no one singular correct path this type of journey takes because each journey is as individual as the person who is experiencing it. Most obvious, the journey will be different from those who identify as religious and those who do not and will diversify with in each category. For example, the spiritual journey a Buddhist takes will be different from that of a believer in Judaism or Christianity. In fact, the journey will continue to diversify between Christians, male and female, age groups, even by demographic location. Consequently, the spiritual formation process is as diverse as it is intricate and we may never be able to discover all the journey options. Although individuals may not actively recognize they are experiencing spiritual formation it is a process that affects all. Because it is in human nature to question, learn, grow, and act, everyone to a certain extent is exposed to a unique spiritual formation journey.
Purpose, the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. Each person at one time or another has asked themselves why do I exist. Intrinsically instilled in us exist an inner yearning to be used in a higher purpose. We all desire to live as productive citizens in the Kingdom of God by having a purpose in the world which we live. Even the O.T. character Adam yearned for more than just being alive. After God created Adam, he gifts Adam with an ability to name all His creation in Genesis 2:19-20. God discerned that Adam desired to have purpose. God understood that man needed a purpose greater than just living. People must have a vision or else they will perish. To receive your vision in Christ instills the greatest

What is Christianity and why has it been able to develop into a continuously growing and evolving religion?
This has taught me to become the person I am today, by following in our saviors footsteps taught me to never give up. When things seem to be at its worst its Jesus who carries the burden for me. Today’s culture takes advantage of the love Jesus has to offer, selfishness seems to be the normal act of today’s society. My Christian worldview helps my personal decisions I make with my family and career. I remember to treat others like I want to be treated (Luke 6:31, King James Version) even when other treat me unsatisfactory. My purpose is to minister to others how great God is, and to testify about the miracles he’s worked for me. God’s purpose impacts my way of thinking because of the instructions taught, miracles he executed, and the passing and revival he concurred
“Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life.” According to Buddha, everyone needs some form of spirituality to define his or her life and existence. Webster Dictionary defines spiritualism as “a system of beliefs or religious practices based on supposed communication with the spirits of the dead, often times through mediums.” Though this is one general definition of spiritualism, this concept is one that does not hold a conclusive meaning. Each and every single person has the ability and right to create and practice their own idea of spiritualism. From ancient times to present day, the term and practice of spirituality has transformed, particularly from region to region. Despite the discrepancies in practices and overall understanding of this idea, spirituality has had an effect and impact upon all of humanity since the creation of time. This religion that is believed to have been established in the early eighteen hundreds, after two little girls claimed to have the ability to talk to spirits, sparked interest in this spiritual movement, allowing it to spread rather rapidly over many geographical locations. Aside from being recognized as a religion, spiritualism is also believed to be a form of philosophy and a science in which spiritualists believe that there is life after death and try to demonstrate this through the ability of attempting to communicate with those that have passed on. Spiritualism was socially different from other religions in existence at the time because it presented followers with a more tolerant belief system that assimilated the principles and facts from a selection the world's religions. Spiritualism also made it acceptable for women to play a disti...
A pastor has a great responsibility to minister the Word of God and to be a shepherd to his people. The pastor must be committed to biblical truths when he engages the work of the ministry. Some of these truths include: The Bible is the infallible Word of God, his preaching must be from the Word of God, and he must do proper exegesis to get to the authorial intent and proclaim that to his congregation.
According to Hutchison (2015), “religion is symbolic patterns that consists of values, beliefs, behaviors and experiences” (p. 184). I personal conceptualize spirituality as a vital role in my life that helps me during a time of sickness, forgiveness, and needed guidance. Spirituality helps guide me throughout life during the difficult times I have encountered. Spirituality impacts my life in positive ways that influence and regulate my behavior and health. Health is very important to me; I believe the spirit can heal a person from their sickness. It seems that the spirit heals me every time I pray to be healed from sickness. The spirit gives me strength at a time of weakness. When I feel at my lowest point in life I call on the spirit to pick
Spirituality can have many different definitions, depending on who is asked. It can be something as simple as looking for a higher meaning to life, or something so complex that one can base their beliefs, religion and overall life around it. There are several different ways to express one's spirituality; rituals, songs, dances, stories, and writings are all common methods of expression.
