The willingness to reject uncertain future The concept of future is explained as a tangled web of uncertainty, each leading to a different path. The force that drives a person to discover each possibility of this complex and intertwined web is will. For some, it could be the will to understand the unexplainable and to gain the unimaginable. Others, it is the will to develop a secure future, in which one achieves a sense of accomplishment or fulfilment. However, as an individual navigates through these unknown webs, the will that drives them through can easily be broken by several obstacles. Through the relationship between Eme and the robot, the author Nnedi Okrafor-mbachu briefly demonstrates that when an individual is confronted with abuse, traumatic events and significant life changes, an individual's willingness to embrace uncertainty often declines, leading to an increase in pessimistic ideals that shape their perception of the world and influence their response to uncertain situations. Initially, Eme dismisses any possibility of a certain pathway, confining her will that ought to give her a boost to welcome the unknown ahead. Her depravity of love and daily abuses lead her to claim that “[her village] was a shit.” Eme and her husband subsist in a house that was “lost in the village." Their isolation demonstrates the feeling of being out of touch with reality that Eme had when it comes to her emotions. In return, lead to her imprisonment with suicidal thoughts. The loss of willingness to embrace her uncertain future brought a “possibility of being done with life.” Her hopelessness that was caused by the overwhelming odds of the uncertain future leads to a contemplation of desperate consciousness that affects the way she views her worth, and the purpose of her
