Thank you! Thank you! It is with great honor that I will accept this highest of achievements. Wow! This is a truly surreal moment for me. Thank you Major League Baseball and Cooperstown for nominating me for the Hall of Fame.
First of all, I would like to take a moment to recognize all of the people who have helped me become the ballplayer that I am today. I want to first recognize my teammates along the way who have made these past fifteen years the best years of my life. I knew I could always rely on you guys to make me laugh when I was down after I struck out. My favorite memory with you guys is from the World Series a few years ago. I remember being ahead of the Yankees by one run when Alex Rodriguez Jr hit that ball that I caught and robbed over the fence from being a home run. Then, the next thing I know I’m being mauled by 24 other grown men as we celebrated our World Series victory just like kids on TV do. The look on everyone’s faces was priceless as it was somewhere between shock and amazement! It has truly been a privilege to play with you guys and I can honestly say that without the assistance of you all that I could not have succeeded on my own. …show more content…

for my entire career. Even during my biggest slumps, I always knew that I had the confidence and support of everyone in the Nationals organization. This is a big part of why I chose to stay here for so long and why it makes it so hard to leave. It brings me great sadness to state that I will never play ball in D.C. ever again. I honestly still cannot wrap my mind around that idea. And thus, I also want to thank my fans for never giving up on me during my struggles as well as for celebrating my accomplishments.
