In dealing with today’s society we have a variety of different violent crime being committed. To be effective in solving, eliminating or reducing any type of crime we most understanding the root cause of the problem. These specialized units are created for the safety of the public. I feel by creating different specialized crime units is great because you can tackle each crime head on and have a better insight to what kind of crime and how it operate. The agency is made up of different individual with unique skill that brings credible insight to each crime. I also think that these types of units are necessary because all crime that are on a personal level is very different. There is an increase of mental health illness crimes and it takes a special kind of unit to be able to determine how or what technique that needs to be used. This type of training is done by a group called CPI unit (Crisis Prevention Institute). The role of a CPI investigator is to determine of the nature of a crime or the health of the individual is nonviolent or if the person is suffering from dementia. If the situation is happening in a work environment the investigator have to determine if the person is violent. Their strategies differs because when dealing with people that have mental issues it could not be something simple as the person did not take their prescribe medications or that person just needs to be calm down.
